LAKE TITUS CABIN RENTAL·MONDAY, FEBRUARY 3, 2020·
Located on the northern fringe of the Adirondack State Park in New York, this is an updated year-round cabin with one-hundred foot of lakefront on Lake Titus. Very private setting. The cabin is ten miles south of the Town of Malone, where there are numerous restaurants, breweries, grocery stores
, shops, and a Robert Trent Jones 36-hole golf course, one of the best in the region. Twenty-five miles from Akwesasne Mohawk Casino and the Canadian border. Have lunch with our Canadian neighbors in friendly Cornwall while taking in the views of the beautiful Saint Lawrence River (don’t forget to take home a box of Tim Horton donuts!). Lake Placid and Whiteface Mountain are 45-minutes south of the cabin, with numerous shops, restaurants, and Olympic venues. Visit the ice rink where in 1980 sports history was made when a bunch of 21-year old American college kids beat the invincible Russian hockey team, one of the greatest sports upsets in modern history. Or visit Olympic Park and see the bobsled course and the ski jump where “Eddie the Eagle” took flight! Use the cabin as a base camp to hike the Adirondack 46 high peaks and join the ADK 46er club. Start by conquering the “Saranac Lake Six” (Haystack, Scareface, McKenzie, Ampersand, St. Regis and Baker Mountains: https://www.saranaclake.com/saranac-lake-6er) and be part of the Saranac Lake 6ers! A big fire pit accommodates all for an evening of S’mores and laughs. Reconnect with family and friends by playing one of the many card and board games provided for your stay. Relax in one of the rocking chairs on the screened-in porch while absorbing breathtaking views of the lake, mountains, and wildlife. BBQ up a few steaks and burgers. Listen to the Loons in the morning and evening. Go for a swim off the dock or a boat ride around the lake. Looking to unwind? Simply enjoy a cup of coffee (K-cup coffee machine provided) or glass of wine while soaking in the amazing scenery from either the main level or upstairs screened-in porches. The cabin is tastefully decorated in Adirondack styling with a wrap-around screened-in porch and a 20’ x 30’ newly built boathouse (finished July 2020) with a 12’ x 14’ lake-level deck. A “bridge” takes you to a 20’ x 30’ rooftop deck of the boathouse situated directly over the lake. The bridge minimizes the number of steps to get to the lake. If you bring a boat, you can tie off along either side of the boathouse. This is a three-bedroom, two full-bath real log cabin constructed with milled timbered native trees. The master bedroom is on the main level with a queen-size bed and rustic Adirondack eight-drawer dresser and Adirondack furnishings. A full-size bathroom and a full kitchen (including dishwasher), a beautiful live-edge center island with four rustic stools, a dining table and cozy living room complete the main level’s open floor plan. The second level has another full-size bathroom with a full-size washer and dryer, a must for extended stays. Besides the “Bunkhouse” described below, there are two more upstairs rooms, one with a queen-size bed and a queen-size pull-out sofa with a memory foam mattress. The second room has two full-size bunk beds and a twin bed tucked away in a private cubby. A newly constructed “bunkhouse” (July 2020) has added significant sleeping quarters to the cabin. It consists of two private 12 x 12 bedrooms (each with a high-end queen-size bed), a 12 x 12 loft with a queen mattress, and a 12 x 24 common room. This adds almost 600 square feet of living space to the cabin, plus room to add additional air mattresses if need be. A 46” television compliments the downstairs living area, and a 46” television is provided in the upstairs common area. Both are connected to Dish network. The master bedroom and the upstairs bedrooms also have televisions with wired connections, but you must move the Dish Hopper to connect to the satellite. Verizon cell phone service is strong at the cabin, but not sure of the signal strength of other carriers. WiFi available through your phone’s “hot-spot” feature. For winter enthusiasts, its only a seven-minute drive to Titus Mountain ski resort, one of New York’s hidden gems (go on-line and look at the reviews yourself). Very reasonable rates for an all day/night ski lift ticket (about 1/2 the cost at a comparable resort). Night skiing is available till 10:00 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. There is a snow-tube area with warming hut for those not venturing to the slopes. A restaurant and bar located in the main lodge with reasonable prices and good food, often with live entertainment on the weekends. Two more food service areas available: one downstairs in the main lodge and the other at the secondary lodge. For the sledders, Corridor 7 of the New York State groomed ski mobile trails is a short distance away, giving you access to hundreds of miles of groomed trails. Not in the mood to wander from the cabin? Set yourself up with ice fishing traps on the lake and monitor the flags from the warm and cozy living room. Lake Titus Trading Post is less than a mile away, a convenient place to pick up provisions, including groceries, beer, wine, and gasoline. If you’re not in the mood to cook have Denise serve you up with pizza, wings, hot-and-cold sandwiches, and daily dinner specials. Breakfast and lunch available too! Very reasonable prices, good food, and terrific people. Unfortunately the Trading Post closes for the winter months. Local wildlife include our treasured loons, all types of water fowl, bald eagles, fox, coyote, deer, porcupine, black bear, moose and bobcats. To date we have not spotted a bear, moose, or bobcat, but we know they’re present. We have seen everything else, including a black mink that visited us while we were having dinner on the deck! Just a terrific place to unwind. There’s something here for all!
