City of Rocks got a little snow over the weekend but it should be mostly melted off today and tomorrow as it warms up. Pictures are today, Wed, May 8. Road is getting graded and Mag solution applied now so it will be smooth and dust free. Should be a beautiful weekend!

Castle Rocks Loop Trail is our favorite trail in the parks. It is almost snow free. South side has a lot of water running but will dry out in the next week or 2. It's a great hike or Bike ride!

Two Rock Turtles is a great wall with several climbs rated Easy 5th Class. Perfect for new or young climbers. The problem is getting to it. There is a granite chute you have to climb up but it's not marked and easy to walk by. Here is map of the trail and some pics of the chute you have to scramble up. Trail is clear today with a few snow drifts you can walk around.

Should be nice weather this weekend! City of Rocks road and climbing update. April 8, 2024. Road is good to Bathrock. Still blocked above Bathrock. Hiked the loop around Flaming Rock today. (attached pics). Still 80% snow covered. Will get very difficult as the snow softens this week. 6" to 18" snow still. Once you reach the bottom of Flaming Rock the trails are mostly clear on the South facing slope to Transformer. Stick to sunny faces for climbing. This week will melt alot of snow. Most campsites below Bathrock are melted off. Castles should be almost completely melted off except for the most shaded spots.

City of Rocks RV is open and can be booked online at Cityofrocksrv.com. Camper Van's welcome at RV or Tent sites. City of Rocks Retreat has openings at our Yurt and Apartment this weekend, cityofrocksretreat.com. Happy Camping!

City of Rocks road report- What a difference 2 weeks makes. Road to Bathrock is decent and passable for all vehicles. Lower camp sites have mostly melted off around practice Rock. Elephant rock parking is clear. Road still closed past Bathrock. Circle creek overlook is still closed. Castle Rocks is mostly melted off. Most climbing is accessible. Starting the 1st or 2nd of April the weather should warm up and snow is melting fast. City of Rocks RV opens April 1st and now has power at all tent sites.

Road report for City of Rocks and Castle Rocks.

Castles parking lots are accessible with all vehicles. Bring snow or mud boots to hike to the climbs facing the sun. The next week will melt alot of snow and dry things out.

City of Rocks is a no go. Roads are deeply rutted and get worse the higher you go. No campsites or parking are accessible and there are no turn arounds until (if) you get to Bathrock. 4x4 high clearance vehicles only and you could still get stuck. It will get worse with the warm weather before it gets better. I'll update in a week.
