Every year Kentucky Travel Industry Association honors the top projects in the state through the Traverse Awards for Excellence in Kentucky Tourism Marketing, which recognizes talent, creativity, and effectiveness in marketing. This year, almost 250 entries were submitted, and we are thrilled to share that Cave Country Trails brought home an award for the following entry:

🏆Interactive Mapping & Website

This project encompassed launching a brand-new website allowing for easy navigating of the hiking, cycling, mountain biking, caving, horseback riding, and paddling trails through iconography, photos, and pertinent information in our six-county region. We have identified 148 trails for your adventurous enjoyment and the number keeps growing!

Cave Country Trails extends a big thank you to the partners who assisted in exploring the vision and ex*****on of this project. MakespaceWeb dove in to curate the perfect trail mix for our audience and Jackson Dodd Photography captured the essence of the trails to help you visualize yourself in action.

Dear Park City Tourism and the City of Park City, KY:

On behalf of the Mammoth Cave 50K/25K team, I want to extend my deepest gratitude for your support in hosting this year’s event. The success of this trail race would not be possible without the warm hospitality and resources that Park City so generously provides.

The Mammoth Cave 50K/25K drew participants from across the country, with many runners traveling from over 200 miles away and spending multiple nights in the area. Based on post-event feedback, over 46% of attendees reported staying at local accommodations including the Grand Victorian Inn and contributing to lodging revenue. Additionally, participants spent an estimated $10,200 on lodging, dining, retail, and other activities, significantly boosting the local economy.

Many runners took the opportunity to explore the treasures of the Mammoth Cave National Park, with activities including cave tours, visits to the Visitor Center, and enjoying the scenic hiking trails. The enthusiasm for these local attractions underscores the park’s appeal and highlights the potential for similar future events to draw even more visitors.

We deeply appreciate your partnership in making this event a memorable experience for all and demonstrating the unique allure of Park City. Together, we’ve not only provided runners with an incredible race but have also supported economic growth and visibility for the local community.

Do you know about the trails in Munfordville?

Munfordville is home to Green River Park and Arboretum that has shady walking trails and is where the trailhead for the Jenny Byrd Wilson hiking trail can be found. It is also a popular takeout spot for paddling down the Green River.

The city has the Old Munfordville Walking Tour that takes you to historic points of interest throughout the town.

U.S. Bike Route 23 runs through the middle of Munfordville, too!
