US National Weather Service Reno Nevada

By far the biggest snow storm of this winter is going to impact the region late Wednesday night through Saturday. Winds with heavy snow will produce periods of low visibility. Treacherous travel conditions will impact the Sierra for an extended period of time with road closures a possibility. In western Nevada there will be 2 periods with the best chances to see accumulating snow, Thursday night and again Friday night.

For context, the Tahoe Basin sees a storm this strong approximately once a year. But, last winter we had 5 storms this strong or stronger.
