February 14, 2025 - 2PM:

At approximately 11:30am today, two Mammoth Mountain Ski Patrol staff were caught in an avalanche on Lincoln Mountain. The slide occurred during avalanche mitigation work, following a significant Sierra snow storm, where approximately 6 feet of snow fell in the last 36 hours.
 
One individual has been extracted from the scene and is responsive, the other patroller was transported to Mammoth Hospital with serious injuries.
 
The area was closed to the public at the time of the incident.
 
The entire mountain and lift operations were closed at 12:00pm for the day.

Due to whiteout conditions and snow drifts, U.S. 395 is closed between State Route 167 near Mono Lake and State Route 182 in Bridgeport. There is no estimated time of reopening. Check out https://quickmap.dot.ca.gov for current road conditions.

In the past 24 hours, has been dumped with over 4.5 FEET of powder, bringing our storm total to OVER 6.5 FEET!
 
The snow is still lightly coming down, and the winds are strong, so expect some impacts around town and on the mountain as we dig out. But don’t worry, the storm should wrap up just in time for an unreal long weekend!

CHP and Caltrans District 9 are closing part of State Route 203 in Mammoth Lakes. The closure extends from Meridian Blvd to U.S. 395.
U.S. 395 remains closed between June Lake Junction and Gorge Road north of Bishop.
We will continue to provide updates here throughout the storm. Visit quickmap.dot.ca.gov for the latest on highway conditions, including road closures and chain control restrictions.
