It’s been a few weeks of great fishing since my last post. I’ve been busy fishing it up with all kinds of great people on the local streams and Crowley Lake. Conditions are warming up but the fish are still active and with safe handling and practices it’s still game on. The East Walker has been doing great all season and recently we have seen some good fishing with drys. The Upper Owens has also been fishing very well with nymphing in the am and by mid morning a lot of surface action. The fish at Crowley have been deep but that should soon change with fish moving into shallow cool water sources like McGee. I have a decent amount of open dates through July. Let’s fish!!

The Rivers and the lakes have been fishing great lately. With this week bringing the first heat wave of the summer we will see a little shift in water temps. Be aware of how you handle trout. Better to leave them in the water and keep photos to a minimum. We pulled off some good shots with quick releases and managed to let most of them go without a photo or even touching. One week out from Mono County General fishing season opener. Crowley Lake is full to the brim, the Upper and Lower Owens are fishing great. East Walker River is currently at 188 CFS which is perfect for some active trout. I still have availability for the weekend and through much of May. Come experience some great days on the water with us. Stop by for all your tackle needs. I’ll be there on Friday helping folks gear up. Looking forward to celebrating the long time tradition.

Fishing opener is right around the corner, only 23 days away. Come out and take part in a long time tradition of the Easter Sierra. Plenty of open dates. I can’t wait to be back out on our local waters daily. We have full watersheds and 2024 is sure to be a great season.

Lots of good times happening in Bishop right now. Come enjoy the scenery while fishing the Lower Owens. You won’t be disappointed. This fishery is in prime shape right now and it should last through April when flows typically ramp up. It’s as good as it gets.

I’m heading north to cooler climates, Alaska bound. Thank you to everyone who has come out so far this season. I’m looking forward to my return and some September fishing. Crowley Lake has been fishing great this past week. Water temps are 62-65 degrees with lots of fresh water coming into the reservoir. LADWP has continued to release large amounts of water so the lake level is still down. Some local streams are starting to shape up with good options for fast water fishing. Finally Feeling Like Summer

The Crowley fun begins. I got a handful of nice fish from shore this morning. The lake is breaking up quickly with the wind we’ve had over the last few days. Shoreline fishing from Hilton and Whiskey Bay is an option as well as the North arm if you can get out there, the access is limited. As for now Benton Crossing road is closed at Browns Campground. The Crowley Lake Fish Camp is working on docks and they have a few sets in the water already. We should be out on the boat in no time.

Pulling the boat after a beautiful day of fishing. There were not many catches on this day at Bridgeport Reservoir . The fishing was a bust to say the least. With the runoff just kicking in it’s hard to say when conditions will improve. The water was extremely dirty with maybe 6”-1’ of visibility making it hard for any fish to see a fly. We all wanted water and now we have it. This summer will be one for the books and as things start to settle we can expect a very productive fishing season ahead of us. Crowley should open up very soon with some windy conditions over the next few days. Stay tuned for more updates.

The much anticipated fishing opener of 2023. It finally feels like spring. With temperatures in the high 60’s expected this weeks things will be melting fast. The boat is cleaned up and ready to roll. I’ll be guiding Bridgeport Reservoir this weekend and through next week. I have availability on Sunday and some days next week for any interested parties. Let’s go see what we can find!

Bring your gloves and jacket for these cool mornings and get ready to set that hook. You never know what’s on the end of your line.
