A few weeks ago, I had a conversation with Justin Hoff who has a Travel podcast (webcast?) and I was talking about travels to Arunachal Pradesh, rafting the Brahmaputra and exploring remote regions of Tibet. He just published the podcast and now we have to try and get as many views as possible.
At just over an hour, it is a tad long, so make a cuppa tea or pour a glass of wine and sit back and enjoy.

David Breashears NPR interview of this morning on Everest - film opens everywhere tomorrow - I still advocate seeing it in an IMAX theater.

Mountaineer and filmmaker David Breashears discusses new film "Everest," which tells of a 1996 tragedy on the mountain.

Thanks to good friend David Breashears (Co-Producer of the movie), I was invited to the USA Premiere of Everest. Put it on your list of “must see in a Theater” movies and if you can make it to an IMAX - even better. After all Everest is 29,028 ft tall. Here are some photos from the evening.

I got home last night from Nepal, waking up this morning to learn that a second major quake occurred last night, this time closer to Everest.

Now, even more now than before, the outlying villages of Nepal will need our help. I managed to speak with David Breashears (who was still in Kathmandu) and he had spoken to a number of lodge owners in Namche Bazaar and further up the Everest trail - “there is more damage and more deaths, buildings weakened from the previous quake have collapsed as expected, people are mostly OK.” he reports.

On my flight home, I was writing my thoughts and experience in Nepal over the last week. You can read the full report on my website at the following link.

NEPAL EARTHQUAKE

We are deeply saddened by the tremendous devastation and loss of life caused by the April 25, 2015 earthquake in Nepal. Our heart and prayers go out to all of the people of Nepal.

We have now heard back from our trekking guides, Sherpa and office staff of our partner Peak Promotion and all are safe.

Thank you to to all of you who have reached out to us for news and requests asking where and how you can help. Destination Himalaya CEO, Sanjay Saxena is currently in Kathmandu working with our Nepal partner Peak Promotion, setting up a system whereby relief funds can be sent directly to the rebuilding effort in remoter villages in the Khumbhu region of Nepal. We will have detailed information on this effort shortly.

In the meantime, if you would like to help out immediately, we recommend the American Himalayan Foundation, who have set up a special fund for the Nepal Earthquake Disaster Relief.

Namaste from the Everest region. This is Sanjay Saxena, CEO of Destination Himalaya: I am here guiding group of trekkers to Everest Base Camp. Yesterday was exactly a week since the tragic incident where 16 Nepalese climbers lost their life in one single avalanche that came down above the Khumbu icefall. Three other Sherpa are in critical condition and six "walking wounded." This has been a trying time for the Sherpa people and the sombre mood even evident in the villages along the approach route.
