Rescue 1, was launched in 1985 and quickly became the premier quality manufacturer of Custom Heavy Rescue Apparatus. PL Custom Emergency Vehicles, the parent company of Rescue 1, has been manufacturing emergency vehicles since 1946. Rescue 1 was initially marketed to Fire & Rescue Departments in the Northeast. National distribution of Rescue 1 began in the late 1990’s to accommodate increased prod

uct demand. All rescue body layouts are custom designed for each individual fire department's requirements, supporting their needs for Extrication, Fire Support, Fire Command, Communications, Hazmat, Air and Lighting, etc. Rescue 1 constructs all rescue apparatus to comply with the latest NFPA standards. Rescue 1 specializes in state of the art rescue vehicles. The engineering and production staff dedicate 100% of their resources to the design and manufacture of the BEST rescue units available. Rescue 1, a small manufacturer by design, is able to focus on the customer’s specialized needs. Production schedules are tailored to permit individual Fire Departments to participate in the final design and layout of their Rescue Unit while it is in manufacturing. Rescue 1 maintains a manufacturing facility in Manasquan, New Jersey, less than an hour from a major airport, making vehicle inspection trips easy. This is especially important during the tool mounting phase.

On this December 7th we'd like to remember the late great Martin "Bud" Smock, founder of PL Custom and Rescue 1. 18 years later his presence is still felt in the factory, and his legacy lives on in every vehicle we produce. Thank you for everything you've contributed and all the memories you've helped create!

We wanted to share the view outside our factory here in Manasquan on this beautiful Friday!

Although the colors and falling leaves may be great to look at, keep in mind that during this time of year with the extra foliage on the ground and current drought conditions, we are at an elevated risk of forest fires. There have been quite a few fires across New Jersey these past couple of weeks and we wanted to extend our gratitude to not only our local fire departments, but also the New Jersey Forest Fire Service for the work they are doing to contain and fight these fires.

Following the devastation in the wake of Hurricane Helene, we'd love to shed a light on some fantastic response efforts from our local New Jersey State Police and NJ-TF1. They are currently on scene in North Carolina providing much needed assistance to the locals being affected by the storm aftermath. Seeing our PL Custom / Rescue 1 Crew Carrier on scene reminds us of why we build these vehicles for our communities.

NJ-TF1 Continues Critical Operations in North Carolina
NJ-TF1 remains on the ground in some of the hardest-hit areas of North Carolina in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene. As anticipated, the team is facing challenging conditions, with strong winds, heavy rainfall, and treacherous terrain in the mountainous regions. Despite these obstacles, the team has been conducting wide area searches and water rescue operations, meticulously covering areas devastated by historic flooding.
The team is performing exceptionally well and currently has no unmet needs. We are grateful for your continued thoughts and prayers for those affected, as well as your unwavering support for the families and employers of our team members.
