What in the "Disney World " went on yesterday ?

If you are in any Disney FB group, you saw a LOT of comments, opinions, and overall shenanigans when it comes to this new "tier" of paid passes at both WDW and DL resorts.

First of all, please make sure to get your information from a credible source. Go directly to the Disney website, or, to a trusted travel advisor (like me) who is keeping up with the latest news. As a travel advisor I do have access to educational materials to make this all make sense!

The Lightning Lane Premier Pass will be available in limited quantities to guests staying at a Disney Deluxe Resort, Deluxe Villa , Shades of Green and the Swan and Dolphin Resorts. October 30th is the roll out date for that tier. It will be available to purchase seven days in advance of your stay. It will only be valid for use in ONE park of your choice per day. You do have to purchase one pass per ticket per park per day. This pass does NOT include the park ticket! I am only discussing WDW here- we can talk DL later.

This pass gives one time entry to each available Lightning Lane entrance in the theme park you are visiting that day. This includes attractions included in BOTH Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Single Pass. The key difference is - with the Lightning Lane Premiere Pass guests DO NOT have to select an arrival time. This is a premium offering, and prices will vary based on date and the theme park you are visiting that day.

Please note- you can still utilize the Multi Pass and Single Pass Systems to select up to three attractions per day ( seven days in advance of your stay). You can also do the good old fashioned "standby line" . Yes, that still exists! None of the passes are required at all.

Is the Lightning Lane Premier Pass expensive? Yes. Is it worth it? If you want the freedom to ditch your phone each day and roam freely from attraction to attraction while not worrying about long wait times or booking attraction arrival windows- than the answer is 100% YES.

THIS is what I will be working on today- just woke up to an email from Disney about this new service. I have clients visiting on its first day and it's my job to figure out all the details for them.

In the coming weeks, Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort will begin piloting a new service providing expedited entry to theme park attractions: Lightning Lane Premier Pass.

Lightning Lane Premier Pass will be offered in very limited quantities and will give guests one-time entry to each available Lightning Lane entrance in the theme park they are visiting that day. This includes attractions included in both Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Single Pass, but with Lightning Lane Premier Pass, guests do not need to select an experience time. Lightning Lane Premier Pass will be a premium offering, and prices will vary based on the date and theme park guests are visiting.

At Disneyland Resort, the Lightning Lane Premier Pass will be available first come, first served beginning two days in advance of a theme park reservation and will be valid for use in both theme parks. The first date it will be available is October 23, 2024.

At Walt Disney World, when Lightning Lane Premier Pass launches, it will be available to guests staying at Disney Deluxe or Deluxe Villa Resorts and may be purchased up to seven days in advance of their stay. It will only be valid for use in one park of the guest’s choice per day. The first date it will be available is October 30, 2024.
