Nice surprise. The Eros crew was celebrating their arrival in Antigua by attending a gathering at the Antigua Yacht Club Marina. Walking by this Locman watch billboard something seemed familiar. Lo and behold it was Eros racing alongside Columbia at the Antigua Classics Regatta circa 2018 with Gary Jobson at the helm. Truly a proud moment for the Eros crew. Eros is planning to race in Antigua again in April and is available for charter for the regatta. Contact us if you’re interested. Up to 12 sailors welcome.

After ten days at sea with the Detroit Diesel running the entire time, the Eros crew was finally able to raise the sails and quietly advance towards Antigua. Expected landfall is Monday or Tuesday depending on the wind which is forecast to strengthen the further we go. We’re excited for a fast sail these last few days.

Happy Thanksgiving from the middle of the Atlantic on Schooner Eros. We are well along our path from the Canary Islands to Antigua. The crew is thankful for the beautiful weather so far and for Eros delivering us safely to our destination. We just enjoyed a delicious chicken dinner. Couldn’t have been more delicious.

Most Instagram yacht posts feature dreamy shots of clear blue water, billowing sails and sailors doing what they do best. We make posts like that ourselves. But classic yachts can only enjoy those kinds of conditions if they are cared for regularly and thoroughly by their crews, owners shipyards and vendors. In fact the team that manages and operates Eros enjoys yard time almost as much as they enjoy the bright blue waters upon which they regularly find themselves. That’s when they can focus solely on her needs. New paint and varnish, repairs, upgrades; lots of TLC. And maybe a little time in the mountains. Launch day is one of the crews’ favorites. Admiring her from every angle, studying her shape that’s usually hidden, and knowing that today she looks even better than she did when she first rolled down the rails in Lowestoft, England in 1938. It’s true love. In the coming weeks Eros will grace the waters of Maine. If you see her at anchor or under sail please snap a photo; we’d love to see it.
