Tomorrow we say good-bye to a cornerstone and rock of David’s House of Travel since the late nineties!! Shirley assisted us with many aspects of the running of the agency! We would not be here today without all of her legal, accounting and general knowledge! She was a Jack of all Trades! We will miss her smiling face!! Thank you for everything you did!!

Shirley Mae Schmill, age 90, a resident of Manitowoc, went peacefully to her heavenly home on Sunday, August 4, 2024 at the Aurora Medical Center in Two Rivers. Shirley was born on May 8, 1934 in Manitowoc, the daughter of the late Alfred and Erna Fischer Borgwardt. She was baptized

Sometimes clients ask why we suggest Viking Cruises to our clients. Here is one reason as some of the other river cruise lines sadly have had to cancel sailings this spring due to high water levels.

Viking has two key advantages with regard to handling water level disruptions. First, they own and operate their ships. They have a Switzerland-based nautical team and a network of local partners and authorities that are focused on monitoring and adapting to current water levels to ensure their guests experience the least possible disruption.

Second, they strategically launch sister ships on the same itinerary, but sailing in opposite directions. In the event of high (or low) water, this tactic allows them to implement a ship swap that is typically seamless for guests – both they and their luggage are able to be transferred to their exact, identical stateroom on a sister ship that was purposefully sailing on the other half of the river in preparation for such a disruption.

These advantages allow Viking to minimize the impact that water levels can have on itinerary, which means our clients are better able to focus on enjoying themselves and having a great journey, rather than worrying about potential changes or cancellations.
