The Day I Solo Traveled in Brazil: A Life-Changing Experience

I’ll be honest, I was the type of person who avoided dining alone or going to the movies solo. The thought of spending time by myself in public? Definitely outside my comfort zone. But when I found myself in Rio de Janeiro, I had a choice: do everything with my cohort or go out and explore on my own.

One day I chose to go solo – and it was the most exhilarating and freeing travel experience of my life to date.

✨ Did I feel awkward and a bit self-conscious? Absolutely. ✨ Did I speak Spanish to a taxi driver because I only knew three words in Portuguese? Yep, I did!
✨ But did I have the time of my life? Without a doubt!

That day taught me that stepping out of my comfort zone can lead to unforgettable moments and a deeper connection to the places I visit.

As a travel advisor, I get the hesitation about stepping out on your own. But if you’re craving the freedom to explore the world, I promise you, it’s worth it.

The UK has implemented an Electronic Travel Authorization required for travelers to the UK, for travel on or after January 8th, 2025.

This includes TRANSIT as well (e.g. connecting in England to another country).

Cost is 10GBP and all passengers must have it including children.

You can find a link to download the app on that site at the bottom of the page.

While this process should complete pretty quickly, it can take longer in some circumstances so best not to wait until departure day to complete.

Once obtained, it’s valid for 2 years.
