Did you know that the Chicamacomico Life Saving Station was established back in 1874!? On top of being 150 years old, it is one of the seven original Life-Saving Stations to be built in North Carolina AND is the predecessor to the modern U.S. Coast Guard! Did you know that Jockey's Ridge has a secret sandcastle hidden beneath its shifting sands? It's part of a mini-golf course that sat atop the dunes in the 1970s and made occasional appearances over the years. This summer, the entire castle is visible! Just don't forget the Leave No Trace principles when you visit!
