We’ve repaired/restored/serviced hundreds of cuckoos over the years, but we just completed this one for a Manteo family….. one of the most elaborate chalet styles you’ll ever see. Like most cuckoos, it displays & sounds the cuckoo bird & a gong on the hour. Dancers rotate at the top. It also turns the waterwheel, bottom left, while 4 beer drinkers, right, lift their mugs, & playing 2 different tunes on its music box, The Happy Wanderer & Edelweiss. It was purchased and made in the Black Forest.

This Biltmore Billiard Limited Edition Ridgeway Grandfather has found a home in VA. We set it up last weekend. Inspired by the clock in the bachelors wing of the Biltmore Mansion in Asheville, NC, it is constructed of select hardwoods & veneers, featuring English Walnut Burl, poised in dark caramel finish. A large antique white with aged brass dial, & a stepped base with adjustable, levelers, trim & aged brass pendulum with matching weights. The softly illuminated case with exclusive 3-position lighting system is finished off in a beautiful crystal cut beveled glass. The brain of this fine piece is a precision made solid brass, triple chime, German Kieninger movement playing Westminster, Saint Michaels, or Whittington chimes. At a whopping 88” tall, it has automatic night silence feature & a 2 year warranty. We purchased & held this brand new rare piece a few years ago, & held it while it continued to appreciate. We have never seen another one for sale, on or off the web, very rare!

***Two more happy Families***
Once again we were privileged to assist one couple in moving, & another in obtaining their dream grandfather clock. Chuck & Becky are moving from the OBX & sought our assistance in finding a nice home for their mint condition 38 year old Zeeland Colonial. Cyndy & David have wanted a gf clock for many years & saw our FB post last week. It all came together in under a week, we moved & serviced the Kieninger German triple chime movement. Turns out they are neighbors & go to the same church. Clockwise: new home, happy couples & original home.

We’ve posted Clocksmith Dan‘s beautiful handmade pens on this site before, but this one is a cut above. A local Manteo couple has become good clock customers. The husband is a professional pianist, so the wife asked Dan to produce a pen of exotic woods and Buffalo bone that will emulate the piano keyboard, as a surprise gift. Below is the final product and they are both elated. There’s not another one like this on the Earth. Real silver and gold dress out the exotics, as the final touches.

This beautiful Daneker Senator has been in a Southern Shores family for 3 generations. It was moved here from NJ and we were able to uncrate and set it up in its new home. She’s running perfectly with melodious chimes.

Former locals, the Hartwig Family, brought this exquisite timepiece all the way from Orlando for us to service/repair. It is a cast iron open escapement, Ansonia, with a beautiful horse and rider atop. It is very heavy, somewhat rare and keeps perfect time. Back in Orlando in its perfect place. Thanks for the business folks.

BEFORE:
Sometimes we receive a clock that is so damaged, in multiple pieces, that it seems beyond redemption. This one belongs to a Grandy Family, inherited from their grandfather. It has great sentimental value. Stand by for the completed project and a couple videos.

Dan did a major restoration on this antique cuckoo dating to the 1930s for a Stumpy Point family. It required a complete movement bushing job, and was missing the top, the deer, the antlers, the pendulum, the cuckoo door, the dial, the numerals, one weight and needed replacement of both bellows. It should now run another 50-100 years with routine servicing.

Here in a new location, this antique Sessions Tambour with harmonious Westminster chimes illustrates another service we provide. The clock was restored for a Hatteras Village family a few months ago. It had been in their family for a couple of generations. They wanted to move it to another part of the house, and we would rather do that for them to make sure it is set up properly, in beat and regulated.

Just completed these 3 clocks for a Roanoke Island family. We serviced the Hermle wall clock and restored the New England cuckoo and the Meiji schoolhouse. The latter two are antiques, all beautiful pieces.

The Lenzkirch Clock Co. of Lenzkirch, Germany was in business from 1851 to 1933. It produced the finest wall regulators in the world. We just finished restoration of this exceptional rare Lenzkirch Meerjungfrau (Mermaid in German) for a North End Family. Some collectors call it the most beautiful clock ever produced, with heavily carved architecture, 80 brass ornaments, rich walnut with carved balcony, turned columns and spires, like a miniature cathedral. The photo on the left is the actual regulator, the one on the right is an internet archive picture in which the collectors choose to keep the brass ornaments highly polished, rather than the natural patina, just a collector’s preference. It dates to 1880.

We posted videos of this beautiful New Haven Banjo Clock last week as we had it running out on a test stand after restoration. Today it is back in its home with Jessica and Brett Houston of Wanchese. It’s been in their family for 3 generations, belonged to their grandparents. It dates to the late 1800s or early 1900. It sounds bim bam chimes on two tuned chime rods, a mint condition antique. It has two beautiful reverse hand paintings.
