The pier and boat dock is lighted at night so you can make your way down easy. We did night fishing on the pier and caught some blue catfish. Watching the sun set while sitting in the dock was so calming.

I'm sad and happy at the same time right now. We are visiting one of our strs, a lakefront cabin on Toledo Bend with only a charcoal grill. I've spent entire life in a state of bigotry of sorts. I always thought that you ain't cooking if you ain't cooking with gas. Tonight I needed to cook some rack of lamb and some moderately high-priced specialty sausage. All I had to cook with was a $25 charcoal grill. I did a little research and learned how to prepare a bed of charcoal for cooking. Let me tell you something.. it just hits different when you cook right with charcoal. No char, no fuel taste. It blows away gas cooking when you do it right. It took me 50 years to come to this epiphany. I'll spend the last 80 years of my life perfecting my craft of cooking with charcoal. Just look at them tearing into it. There were no leftovers.

Many of our guests are travelling up from south Louisiana or the Houston area. No matter which direction you're coming from the last 15 minutes of your trip you'll go past Curtis Grocery on Toledo Bend . It can be a lifesaver if you forgot something.
