Lobster season just got started and we did well on our first trip this weekend. Weather conditions were optimum, warm clear ocean. We snorkel in water about 8 foot deep looking for lobster hiding in holes and crevasses. Using just a small net and a tickle stick, the object is to hold your breath, dive down, capture the lobster in the net and bring it to the surface. Then you have to measure the size of the head to make sure it is legal to bring into boat. In the Florida Key, we are allowed to harvest 6 lobster per person per day. It is a lot of fun, but also physically hard work. The best part is when you cook some of them in the evening, they are soooo good.
