Below is an announcement from the Great Lakes Fishery Commission inviting interested people to view a screening of a documentary about the impact of the sea lamprey invasion into the upper Great Lakes following the completion of the Welland Canal. It is a very interesting and informative story about the devastation they inflicted and the effort to come up with a way to control the destructive creatures. This historical documentary shows how the threat inspired the formation of the GLFC and the ensuing research that pretty much save the Great Lakes fisheries. It is narrated by JK Simmons (the actor that does the Farmer's Insurance commercials) and is an amazing story that every Great Lakes fisherman will find fascinating. The screening is free and takes place at Maumee Theatre this Sunday 9/29. Click on the link below for the trailer and information about the documentary.

Maumee, OH—The Great Lakes Fishery Commission (Commission) will be hosting a premiere of the award-winning documentary film, THE FISH THIEF: A Great Lakes Mystery at 4:45pm on Sunday, September 29th at the Maumee Indoor Theater in Maumee, Ohio. The event is free and open to the public.

J.K. Simmons narrates this feature length documentary about an exotic species invasion that nearly destroyed the largest freshwater ecosystem on Earth.
