Heartland Auxiliary To Sponsor Another Tour of Marcus Backyards

We are thrilled to offer another tour of beautiful spaces around Marcus. We have 7 uniquely different locations for you to tour. We are so grateful for the success of last year’s tour that this year’s tour will include touring all of the outside areas at Heartland Care Center so the you can see all that was done for the resident’s outdoor pleasure. It will include the new items at the front entrance, the patio furniture on the new east patio, the elevated gardens on the north dining room patio and the newly refurbished and furnished gazebo. All of these improvements are because of the success of last years tour. We are thankful for the generosity of the following home and business owners, who will also be on this year’s tour: Barb and Joe Rosener, Maxine and Jack Shea, Barb and Jerry Martin, Virginia and Harlan Hansen, Cindy and Bob Gannon, and The Sanctuary, a vacation airbnb rental.
We invite you to come and enjoy patios, an outdoor fireplace, firepits, landscaped backyards, flower gardens, vegetable gardens and gazebos plus a unique opportunity to see The Sanctuary. This year’s tour will be Friday, June 24 from 4pm to 8pm and Saturday, June 25 from 8am to 12 noon. Ticket sales will be at Farmers State Bank Community Room in downtown Marcus.
Ticket Sales will be from 4pm to 6pm on Friday afternoon and 8-10 am on Saturday morning. Tickets will cost $15.00 and will be good for both days. Thank you for supporting our event. Hope to see you there!

I love reading The Past Files of The Marcus News. Thank you for sharing this mention of The Danish Lutheran Church (now The Sanctuary) from 1905 Kathleen Ann Trudell (Mom). This must have been extremely frightening—so glad no one was injured.

Our guest feedback is always appreciated and valued. Thanks to a simple guest suggestion, the Sanctuary now has handles to help open the basement windows. Those who have older windows, are very familiar with this struggle during the hot and humid Iowa summers.

"The Sanctuary is a wonderful place to spend family time when visiting Marcus. There is plenty of space to gather and plenty of quiet sleeping space. The atmosphere was relaxing and quiet. There was a street dance being held just a couple blocks away on Saturday evening and we did not hear a thing. We plan to stay at The Sanctuary again.
