We came up for a couple of work days. Piers are in, tiki and deck lights are out, carpets shampooed, linoleum floors steam cleaned and bunch of other deep cleaning done. A couple of deer came to visit tonight. We are ready for opening walleye fishing!

-Snowfall Forecast Through Monday Night-

Never-ending snowfall forecasts continue as strong northwest winds will allow for persistent lake effect snow showers over the next 24-36 hours. This is additional totals as of noon Saturday. Light snow showers will bring more snow for some in IA/MN/WI before midnight Saturday night. Isolated amounts of 1-2' is expected for some along Lake Superior. Heavy lake effect down by Lake Michigan as well. Travel will be impacted, not just from accumulation, but blowing and drifting snow as well.

Finally some good snow. Our backyard gauge shows 10 inches. It's lightly snowing now. More snow coming tonight and nice cold temps should help set up the trails. If you arent afraid of the cold coming in, our place is available. Checkout on Jan 20 as we are headed up to enjoy the snow.

Go figure. Our sleds are in the UP and we are to have measurable snow at home in Southern Wisconsin. Can't catch a break this winter. But at least it's snow and 3 to 5 in the UP is better than 0 anyday.

-Snowfall Forecast Friday-Sunday Morning-

Another clipper will affect northern portions of the region this weekend, where moderate snowfall accumulations are expected for portions of MN/MI. The highest totals are expected in northeast Minnesota and a few areas along Lake Superior in Michigan with 3-6" expected. Amounts are lower the farther south you go, but minor impacts are still expected.

If there are changes, we will have an updated snowfall forecast tomorrow (Thursday) afternoon.

-Large Winter Possible January 7-10th-

A large winter storm is increasingly likely around the 8th of January. For days now, deterministic and ensemble guidance has painted a large area of the region to be affected by a large system, with plenty of cold for areas of significant snowfall. For timing, the surface low is expected to eject out of Colorado around the 7th and move northeast. There are two solutions, with a southern and northern track. However, as of now, we expect a broad area of moisture, with widespread accumulating snow possible.

Yes, we are a week out, so we won't talk about more detailed information, but confidence is unusually high at this range for a large winter storm before the first push of real arctic air. We will have more updates!

We are here this week. Normal years we would be snowmobiling, but there isn't any snow this year. We shopped locally today. Tomorrow we will take my parents around to some snowmobile stops via car and leave some coin. We are doing what we can to support the economy. Pray for snow.

16 inches of snow last night on top of what we already had and it's still coming down. The heat mats in front of the patio doors are not keeping up. Prayers for safety to our friends and neighbors. We heard they pulled the plows off the roads as it is too dangerous for them to be out.
