🇮🇹 Michelangelo’s David is even more spectacular in person than I ever could have imagined. The pure vastness of the statue itself is incredible, but the details are what makes it truly magnificent. The muscles in the chest, the rock clasped in his hand, the veins raised on the skin… Carved out of a single block of Italian marble, David stands over 17 feet tall. Michelangelo was only 26 years old when he created this masterpiece that makes stone seem alive… Beautiful is an understatement.
If you are ever in Florence, Italy, visiting the Academia to see David is a must. I can help you secure a private guide and skip the line tickets (the line the day we went wrapped around the building and had a wait time of 6-7 hours). We waited about 10 minutes to enter.
