Egypt is enhancing its tourism experience with improvements to archaeological sites and museums, as well as upgrading hotel services and increasing the number of flights to the region. Travel to the country is also more accessible for international visitors with the recent introduction of a five-year-multiple-entry visa.

JetBlue is implementing an increase of up to $10 for checked bags during busy travel periods. Travelers can receive a discount by paying baggage fees 24 hours before their check-in time.

JetBlue is now charging $50 for the first checked bag on domestic and short-haul international flights during peak flying times, a $5 increase from off-peak flights.

More flight options for your clients! Southwest Airlines is now offering overnight flights with lower fares over daytime prices. Red-eye flights will also enable West Coast travelers to fly after work hours to the East Coast in time for morning meetings.

The carrier plans to introduce red-eye service from Las Vegas and Hawaii in the coming years, which should work to bolster its competitive edge in the aviation market.

As Black History Month begins, we honor and recognize the achievements and struggles of black citizens throughout United States history. In recognition of those who helped shape the travel and tourism industry, here are three individuals whose passion and determination still inspire us today.

Victor Hugo Green - A pioneering traveler from Harlem, New York City, who wrote the first travel guide for African Americans in the United States known as The Green Book. The guide helped make travel comfortable and safe for African Americans before the passage of the Civil Rights Act of 1964.

Betty Reid Soskin - Once the oldest working United States park ranger, she helped develop the museum at the Rosie the Riveter/World War II Home Front National Historic Park in Richmond, California, where the role of women on the homefront was memorialized. She also helped visitors understand what her own life was like as an African American woman.

Bessie Coleman - The first African American woman to earn a pilot's license and make a public flight in America in 1922. Her ultimate goal was to leave a lasting legacy that encourages both women and African Americans to fight for their dreams.
