Thanks to everyone who has messaged me. I’m sorry I’ve been unable to respond but service is limited so I can’t reply to everyone. I am ok and the cows are too. A friend was able to get me some supplies yesterday after 3 days of trying, so I have enough for the next few days.

Yancey, Mitchell, and Avery county are in desperate need of supplies. I will be setting up a go fund me to help buy supplies for the community. If you need to drop supplies off, please consider sending some to Newdale Fire Department. They are directly supporting my community. These are the supplies currently needed. We don’t need volunteers yet, because there is no infrastructure to house work crews. But we desperately need supplies dropped off at our fire department.

One of the most common questions we start seeing around this time every year is "when will Fall colors peak in the Blue Ridge Mountains?!?"

Thanks to Michael Denslow of the Department of Biology at Appalachian State University, this map offers science-based answers, estimating peak times for various parts of Western NC (based on elevation and latitude).
