Fun Fact: Did you know there are over 50 local breweries in Asheville? It’s a beer lover’s paradise.

Eluvium Brewing Company is located in Weaverville just outside of Asheville. Dogs are welcome. 🐶 Food is served. 🍽️ And the beer is so good. 🍺

It was another summer of updates at the cottage. 🛠️ The biggest update was an entirely new deck on the front of the house. We added new Weber grill, new window treatments, replaced the toilets, added some landscaping, updated some exterior lighting, and updated our AC/Heat controls. We hope our guests enjoy these changes. 👍🏻

Delicious ooey-gooey-ness at the Original Papa Nick's in downtown Mars Hill. From calzones to stromboli to pasta dishes and pizzas, this family owned and operated restaurant has been a local staple since 1969. Yum! 😋

For 50 years, the Southern Appalachian Repertory Theatre (SART) has enriched Western North Carolina with high-quality, professional, live performances.

Shows are performed at the historic Owen Theatre on the campus of Mars Hill University.

Since its founding in 1975, SART has produced scores of plays, musicals, and original works, many portraying the rich culture and heritage of Southern Appalachia.

The fish may not be huge, but they’re still fun to catch. 🎣 (And of course better than staring at a phone or video game.) We catch rainbow trout, brook trout and bass behind the cottage.

Selecting a Name

Thank you for the puppy name suggestions. 🐶 The family couldn't come to a consensus - so we let the dog pick her own name. 4 Names on 4 sheets of paper. The dog selected Reese as her name (our 14-year old's pick). Sorry the video lacks any type of build up and the great reveal. Our 14 year old was the one with the camera. 🤪

We had a very interesting guest at the cottage yesterday. We see deer quite often and find prints all over the property. But this is something we hadn’t seen before. 🦌A doe was grazing on grasses/algae growing on rocks in the river. She was right in front of our lowest deck. She grazed for about 10 minutes until we went outside of the cottage to take a closer look. She immediately sensed our presence and wandered off. 🦌🎥 Creds: AJ shot this video from inside the downstairs bedroom.

Our area in the Southern Appalachians is home to hundreds, if not thousands, of peaceful, beautiful waterfalls that are accessible just off the highway or along one of the many scenic hiking trails.
