We have hosted many amazing, adventurous people over the years. Tom and his dog Savanah are definitely among the best. Tom’s book about his seven year walk around the world is available now.

It’s apple picking time! Our bunkhouse started out as a home for our Happy Apples Orchard apple picking team. They only need it during picking season, August, September and October. It sat vacant the rest of the year. We decided to open it to Katy Trail through cyclists, hikers and guests looking for affordable overnight accommodations.
Well, the orchard is full of apples, our amazing crew is back, and the bunkhouse is closed for guests until next spring.

Philly's Pizza has the best pizza and wings. Best of all, they’re located right across the street from the Happy Apples Bicycle Bunkhouse and they love through cyclists and hikers!

I finally made it to the Turner Katy Trail Shelter in Tebbets, MO today and had the absolute pleasure of meeting Rachel and the Collins Family as they were delivering breakfast to a group of cyclists.

There is a lack of available food in Tebbets, so the Collins family started providing food to the people passing through. Rachel and her girls deliver fresh, home made meals right to the Turner Shelter.

A lot of our Eastward guests come from the shelter and a lot of our Westward guests are heading toward the shelter. Tebbets is 53.5 miles from our Happy Apples Bicycle Bunkhouse in Marthasville. Make sure to give Rachel a call and arrange a meal the next time you’re stopping in, or going through, Tebbets!

Naresh is riding across the USA on a tandem bicycle with friends, supporters and strangers riding along with him. Today Lisa Frick joined him in Marthasville for a few miles.
He is raising $ and awareness to fight against human trafficking. You can follow his journey at freedomseat.org and pedaling4freedom.org
He had already ridden over 2335 miles when I met him in Marthasville.

I’m not sure what our guests like more; the free Happy Apples in the fridge, the farm fresh chicken eggs, the foot massager, the hammock and disk swing in the yard or our comfy beds.

We had the pleasure of hosting Isaiah during his 300 mile journey across Missouri! I got to walk 4 miles with him and get to know him and his story a bit. The four miles flew by, Isaiah is a great guy with a positive, kind spirit! Check out his story here:

We are OPEN!
I was on my way over to the Happy Apples Bicycle Bunkhouse to clean and get it opened for the season when I got a call, “This is Joe, do you have any beds available for tonight?”
I told him we weren’t open YET, but I was on my way to get it ready. He waited about 10 minutes for me to get there and kept me company while I cleaned and got the place ready for this year’s guests.
He noticed a Camino magnet on the door. He has also hiked the Camino de Santiago, so we had PLENTY to talk about!
What a great start to the 2024 Happy Apples Bicycle Bunkhouse season!
