Valentine's season is officially here! The Martinsville Candy Kitchen will be making heart shaped candy canes this Saturday, January 11.

Demonstration begins at 11 am, and typically lasts about 30 minutes, so plan to enjoy lunch at a downtown Martinsville eatery or visit a fre local shops as well!

Kick off the New Year with a First Day Hike! Choose your own place and time, or join an organized event and meet new friends!

There will be a free, informal run/hike meet up at Jimmy Nash City Park at 2 pm. Meet at the trail head by the pond. The trail loop is almost 2 miles with some nice hills.

It's finally Christmas Eve!
There are so many ways to celebrate the night before Christmas. For example, our family anxiously awaits the arrival of new pajamas from Twinkle Toes the fairy, which arrive each year on Christmas Eve. Several area churches host candlelight services each year, many families bake cookies for Santa, go for a drive to enjoy the lights, or have a Christmas movie marathon.

Candy cane demonstration times for Monday and Tuesday at the Martinsville Candy Kitchen! This is such a fun holiday activity for all ages.

Today is officially the shortest day of the year, in terms of sunlight. As it has remained dark incrementally later each morning and gotten dark earlier each evening in past weeks, now we begin to move the other direction, as it will be daylight a bit earlier each morning and later each afternoon!

Congratulations to the Indiana Spirit of '45 on today's 12th Anniversary of Taps on the Square in downtown Martinsville. This weekly tradition has become an iconic part of Martinsville's downtown experience. Each Friday, members of the Indiana Spirit of '45 and the American Legion Post 230 Riders, gather along with citizens on the southwest corner of the courthouse lawn to honor and remember American heroes. Taps is sounded at the 7th bell from various locations around the square. The ceremony takes place regardless of weather conditions or special events.
