This tradition started in 2018 when my granddaughter turned 7 during our Disney Cruise. Since then, we’ve continued it every time we go on a vacation together. One of the best ways to experience Hawaii as a family? A hike up Diamond Head State Monument! I’ll admit, I had my doubts about how this would go—especially with kids in tow—but it turned out to be one of the most memorable parts of our trip.
The trail was a little challenging, but the views and the joy of conquering it together made it all worthwhile. Reaching the summit, surrounded by my ohana, was a moment I’ll never forget. It’s proof that sometimes the most unexpected adventures become the most special memories.

Hawaii welcomed us in the most beautiful way—with a luau! 🌺 Did you know a luau is a traditional Hawaiian feast that celebrates community, culture, and connection? From the moment we arrived, wearing our fresh flower leis (those beautiful necklaces symbolizing love and hospitality), we were immersed in the aloha spirit.
The evening was magical, with incredible entertainment, delicious food, and a setting that captured the true essence of Hawaii. But the best part? Experiencing it all with my ohana. Laughing, dancing, and making memories together reminded me why family adventures like this mean so much.

December 31st was more than just the end of the year—it was a day of adventure and family bonding as we tackled the legendary Road to Hana in Maui. With over 600 curves to conquer, my son took the wheel like a pro, making the journey as fun as it was breathtaking. One thing we learned along the way: if you plan to visit the iconic black sand beach, be sure to make an advanced reservation! We missed it this time but wanted to share the tip so you don’t. Spending my 60th birthday hiking the Kaiwi State Scenic Shoreline with my husband, kids, and grandkids was nothing short of magical. The midday sun, the long trail—it didn’t matter because we were together. Watching my grandkids keep up with such energy and joy filled my heart.
