Jamie loves to travel the globe, and in the course of her travels, she swam in the South China Sea, Swim Trekked through Turkey, and Stand Up Paddled through Prague and southern Croatia. She swam with United States Swimming (USS) through high school, and played water polo at the University of Central Florida. After leaving pool competition, Jamie began open water swimming, and still competes in op
en water swimming events during the summer. Jamie joined Ocean Grove Beach Patrol in 1997, and has enjoyed lifeguarding, competing in tournaments (e.g., simulated rescues, prone paddling, rowing) and coaching the Jr. Lifeguard program, and today still proudly serves part-time with OGBP. Recently, she has started to enter long distance SUP events. When she’s not on the water paddling, Jamie is a full-time Professor of English, where she inspires students to fulfill their potential as writers, researchers, and literary analysts. She applies her teaching skill and passion for the water during Stand Up Paddle lessons. Jamie is ACA certified to teach Stand Up Paddling, and also holds certifications in First Aid and CPR for the Professional Rescuer. She offers Stand Up Paddle lessons in various locations to new and current paddlers in New Jersey, Maryland, and Virginia. She calls Maryland (near DC) her home during the school year and New Jersey home in the summertime.
