No Shade November… while all the Walt Disney World theme parks have ample places to sit under an umbrella or shady tree, there’s nothing like spending a late winter afternoon in the Florida sunshine, especially if it is spent sipping a lavender lemonade.
The Epcot Flower and Garden Festival typically runs early March through Memorial Day. There are some great discounts on resort rooms for early 2025, if you would like to plan an escape from the grey winter skies!

“No shade” November…. Let’s take a look at some of our favorite sunny spots!
Volcano Bay at Universal Orlando is an amazing place to spend the day, with all the things you love about a waterpark and more. One of their unique features is TapuTapu, a band that allows you to “tap in” to your favorite waterslide and be alerted when it’s time to ride! There are plenty of places to stretch out and soak up the sun, and is a great way to take a break between action-packed park days at Universal Studios, Islands of Adventure and the new Epic Universe. ☀️

Ending my week of Aulani posts in the same way we ended our magical vacation- at the Luau. If you don’t attend one, have you even been to Hawaii? Aulani’s luau showcased the music, dances, history and culture of Oahu. The food was delicious!! And I loved that we’re only an elevator ride from our room!
Mahalo (thank you) for following along. Even if I wasn’t a Disney travel planner, I would be recommending this resort to EVERYONE as a great place to call home while exploring one of Hawaii’s most beautiful and interesting islands. If you have been considering a Hawaiian holiday, please allow me to quote you an Aulani stay for all or part of your tropical vacation.

Aulani doesn’t have a theme park with spinning rides or singing bears, but it does have character. Or should I say CHARACTERS! Tucked into quiet corners of the resort you will find some of our favorite Disney pals, and even some that are lesser known. From a delicious daily breakfast at Makahiki, to poolside appearances, and even special activities and events, you’ll see some familiar faces pop up every day. And if you are visiting at Halloween time, you might even find them sporting their costumes!

Tonight’s Aulani post takes us beyond the resort… situated on the west coast of Oahu, Aulani can serve as your home base for all the beauty and action the island has to offer. Hike Diamondhead. Surf the North Shore. Pay you respects at Pearl Harbor. Shop til you drop in Honolulu/Wakiki. Even board a cruise ship to the other islands and beyond! And when you are done, return to your comfortable bed and enjoy a great night’s sleep! 🌴🌈🌺🍍

It’s all over the news today….. Disney is piloting an upcharge “Premiere Pass” that gains park guests access to every Lightning Lane in the park they are visiting that day*. This is not a new format-other theme parks offer similar options-but new to Disney.

If you are one of my current clients, and are scheduled to visit the parks later this year or in early 2025, I will be sending you more details soon!

Keep in mind this is a pilot program which means offerings, prices and qualifications may change before your visit. One more reason to work with someone who makes it her job to stay up to date for you!! 🏰

If you like to swim, snorkel or just soak up the sun, you have plenty of options at Aulani. In addition to two expansive family pools, the resort has three water slides, a lazy river, multiple hot tubs, a snorkeling pool, children’s water play area and splash pad for the littlest keiki. No little ones on this trip? No problem! Enjoy an adults only swimming pool and bi-level infinity hot tub. Food, drinks and shaved ice are just steps away! Prefer to relax in style? Cabanas and Casabellas are available to rent.
If the sandy shoreline is more your thing, head down to the lagoon for paddle boards, sand castles and other ocean activities. Or, just float on a raft or swim noodle. (We purchased mine at the convenience store across the street for $13 filled with air and ready to go!)

Aulani opened in 2011 with an expansion two years later. Designed, built and decorated to reflect the art and culture of the Hawaiian Islands, the resort has one of the largest collections of Hawaiian art in the state. Disney legend Joe Rohde, who was the lead designer on Disney’s Animal Kingdom, was instrumental in the design and construction of the resort. From the koi pond to the flowering trees to the mischievous menehune statues throughout the resort, you will be immersed in the beauty of Hawaii. 🌴🌈🌺
