These trips go at a pace that aligns with your level of experience and provides you the best opportunity for a successful outing. Perhaps you're a history buff that is looking for in

sight as to how the history of WWII forever shaped the landscape of Cape May as we know it? For others, it might be a romantic sunset cruise after dinner. These trips often include close encounters with dolphin and other marine life, as the marine traffic gives way to the fading sun. You can either come to us, or we will pick you at your favorite on the water dining location!

Now that our season is in full swing, we are featuring an Open Boat special every Sunday Evening! These trips will be limited to only 6 people, so message us to reserve your spot. The boat will sail from Stone Harbor Marina on Sunday evenings at 6:30pm. You're welcome to bring your beverage of choice and enjoy some quiet time while watching a beautiful sunset. The boat is fully equipped with ample seating, ice, a hostess, charcuterie and plasticware. Cost is only $75 per person, so message us to reserve a spot. We hope to see you!

I often see posts from parents who have children that have an interest in fishing, but they aren’t sure where to start or how to go about it.

May is a perfect time to introduce children to saltwater fishing for 3 reasons:

- There are many large species holding in the calm waters of our back bays and estuaries. This is a perfect time to take advantage of a post-spawn cycle and grab a trophy size fish without fear of getting sea sick.
- No Green Heads! Most people don’t start thinking about fishing and boating until the heat of the summer kicks in. This is when the biting flies become most active and can really ruin someone’s experience if they aren’t properly dressed for this.
- Less boat traffic. In the early season you’re less likely to be pushed out of a prime fishing spot by jet skis, tubing and wake boarders.

The key to introducing a young person to fishing is to remove as many potential negatives as possible (ie., motion sickness, bugs, extreme temperatures).

Taking advantage of May is the perfect opportunity to build a strong foundation and new love for the outdoors with your family.

Tide Shift Charters offers 4 hour “intro to saltwater fishing” trips that may be perfect for you. These are essentially on the water seminars where we cover many of the basics, such as:

- migration cycles
- Where to fish
- Fishing techniques
- Common species in our local waters
- Knot tying
- Casting
