🚨 SHARLIE SPOTTING! 🚨
Arguably our favorite part of cruising aboard The IDAHO is a chance to spot our friendly local lake monster, Sharlie! 🐉

For over 100 years, locals and tourists alike have reported sightings of a 35 foot, serpent like creature that lives in the depths of the alpine waters of Payette Lake. The first reference to Sharlie predates western settlement of the area by Native Americans. Modern history of Sharlie began in 1920 when workers on the north end of the lake thought they saw a log floating by, until the log started to swim and dove into the waters below!

If you capture a photo of Sharlie while cruising with us this summer, make sure you show the Captain to redeem your prize!

These 3 photos are all from last night. A guest saw me taking photos and asked “Don’t you see this every day?” I guess the beauty just hits you differently when you have to let it go.
We want to extend a deep, heartfelt THANK YOU to every single person who came out to support us this year. Without you, we wouldn’t get to be here. We love you.

Here’s your weekly pretty picture and a fun fact about Payette Lake!

Payette Lake was carved out by a 1,000 foot high glacier over 10,000 years ago. This created a lake 2.5 miles across and eight miles long with 5,300+ acres of water. It sits at an elevation of 5,013 and the lake’s maximum depth is 392 feet 🤯
