Full Moon Hike, December 12, 5:30 p.m. at the Lake House

Embrace the beauty of the forest under a full moon on this 1-mile hike with Ranger Noah. This "Cold Moon" will be the last full moon before the winter solstice. Please bring a flashlight or headlamp.

Annual Holiday Lights Hike, December 13, 5-9 p.m. at the Lake House (weather dependent)

Explore the 1-mile Orchard Loop decorated by candlelight and holiday lights on this self-guided holiday light hike. Be sure to drop by the Lake House before or after your hike for complimentary s’mores and hot chocolate.

This year’s Joy of Christmas Light Show is scheduled to begin at 5PM on November 29, 2024 at the Oakland Community Center, 14 N 8th Street Oakland, Maryland.

The one-hour show features over 38,000 individually controlled lights and runs from 5PM-10PM November 29,2024 – January 1,2025. The show starts at the top of each hour, with the last show starting at 9PM.

The show can be viewed from your vehicle by tuning to 87.9 FM or by using the free PulseMesh app. You can also watch from outside and enjoy the interactive dance floor and light-up sofas.

The show is all-original for this event, combining classic and modern Christmas music, along with some original Christmas parodies of well-known popular hits.

The show is completely free to the public and family friendly. This year’s theme, “Big News,” involves the adventures of Ray Porter and his trusty companion, Digger, who are striving to become the best news reporters in the area.

The show is created and produced from scratch by staff of The CHIPS Network, Inc in Oakland and is sponsored by several area businesses, individuals, and organizations.
