Don't forget about the annual upcoming bake sale, benefiting the Drane House. The Drane House is Garrett Countys oldest standing structure. Built in 1797, it was gifted to Priscilla Drane and her husband Lt. James Drane, by her brother Colonel William Lamar. The Drane's moved to Garrett County from Prince Georges County and became Accident's first permanent settlers. Proceeds will go towards the restoration project of the Drane House.

Come out on December 7, 2024, from 8a-12p and get in the holiday spirit and support a great cause!

Save the Date for the Festival of Trees, Garrett County MD on Friday, November 29 & Saturday November 30, 2024 at the Garrett County Fairgrounds in McHenry.

Decorated trees, wreaths, live auction and plenty of kids' activities including Frosty's Funland, Mrs. Claus' Bakery, Crazy Christmas Hair booth, shopping at Elfenheim Mall and several characters will make appearances throughout the day, including Santa, Mrs. Claus, Frosty, and Gingerbread man, as well as Elf and Elsa.

Proceeds benefit the Garrett County Dove Center. Get more details at www.gcfot.org

Don't miss the Joy of Christmas Light Show that will begin at 5PM on November 29, 2024 at the Oakland Community Center, 14 N 8th Street Oakland, Maryland.

The one-hour show features over 38,000 individually controlled lights and runs from 5PM-10PM November 29,2024 – January 1,2025. The show starts at the top of each hour, with the last show starting at 9PM. The show can be viewed from your vehicle by tuning to 87.9 FM or by using the free PulseMesh app. You can also watch from outside and enjoy the interactive dance floor and light-up sofas.

The show is completely free to the public and family friendly. This year’s theme, “Big News,” involves the adventures of Ray Porter and his trusty companion, Digger, who are striving to become the best news reporters in the area.

The show is created and produced from scratch by staff of The CHIPS Network in Oakland and is sponsored by several area businesses, individuals, and organizations.

The Greater Oakland Business Association and the Town of Oakland, Maryland host their Holiday Light Up Night on Friday, November 29 at 6 pm at the Mountain Fresh Pavilion! Kick off the evening with a joyful walking parade led by Santa; parade on 2nd Street & ending at the B&O Railroad Station for the official tree lighting. Delight in the warmth of the season as you savor delicious cookies and sip on hot cocoa, while the air fills with the sounds of carolers and holiday tunes.
