Another law enforcement badge goes up on our lodge wall at Hawley Mountain Ranch. Tim Baysinger is a retired captain of the Missouri State Highway Patrol, serving for 36 years from 1978-2014. Presently, he is a regional program manager for the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. (2014-current). Tim also sent a very informative article stating that the Missouri State Patrol was created in 1931, and the officers began wearing this shoulder patch on their uniform that year. The article gave a detailed description of the badge, but the design of two grizzle bears on the badge caught the interest of us Montanans. Thanks for the many years of your service, Tim, and to your lovely wife for all of her years of support.

Another law enforement patch has been shared with us! Tim Stevens and his wife, Judy, have visited Hawley Mountain Ranch several times. Tim's law enforcement experience was spent as a wildlife officer. He was a game warden for almost 29 years. We are sure that is how he and wife, Judy, have become so interested in the outdoors and hunting. Tim spends some of his retired time making wooden products for our gift shop. They have been a real hit with our visitors! Thanks for your service, Tim, and for your support as well, Judy.

Calf roping is best done when the calf is not moving! Wrangler Mason is giving some beginning instructions on how to get the job done. It gives some appreciation on how well the rodeo and ranching cowboys can do this. Ever given this activity a try? www.hawleymountain.com

What a view we have from the Eagle Nest Lodge on the cliff. Riders pass by on the way to the meadow for a relaxing ride. At times we see elk with their calves, a moose stroll by the pond, or a cub playing with its mother in a meadow by the Boulder River. A magical moment! www.hawleymountain.com

Another badge was sent to us by a friend who worked in law enforcement in New Hampshire. Jim was part of the Dublin Department for 25 years. He started as a patrolman and retired as the police chief. After retirement from the force, he was an operations manager at our dude ranch for a time, and we personally know what a great guy he is. The police force was lucky to have him! Thanks for your service, Jim! www.hawleymountain.com

A recent guest from CA shared with us a very special moment. Charlie has been in law enforcement for many years in his state and honored us with a badge from his police department. He stated that places like our dude ranch offer the kind of surroundings that people working in high stress situations seek for healing and renewal. These badges have been shared by many law enforcement workers to recognize the dedication and caring for others that occurs in their experiences each day. It is our hope to continue building a wall of badges in our lodge from past and future policemen and women in recognition of these special individuals. www.hawleymountain.com
