Steve Smith a Reel River regular (and US Army Veteran), was finally able to get his Aussie buddy Andy on a RRA trip. Capt’ Carl knew this was gonna be fun.

Trip started out slow with less than a dozen fish the first 90 minutes. A cold foggy and a 5° drop in water temp slowed them up before the Bite Bonanza that followed. Steve even joked that he was going to benefit on the ten fish guaranteed clause.

No such luck, once the sun broke thru the fog it was game on! 76 fish with quite a few that got away. Especially the prize fish that Steve thought he could just man handle into the boat. Lesson learned, wait for the net!

There could not have been more laughs. Fun times aboard Bamma Breeze

Cyle & Cassy fought off a pile of shorts to find their way to finding some better fish... patience paid off. Their 8hr Split trip yielded 120 bass along with a walleye and other fish.

Out of the those landed 79 were 11-17” the rest where short of 11! Cassy led the way in numbers (and size) during the Evening portion of his the Split, but severally aggravated her elbow injury. So much so, she had to tap out late morning and missed about an hour of fishing.

Cyle threw cranks, topwater, hard and soft jerks the whole time. Cassy tossed a BugZ from Z-Man Fishing Products tye whole time.

While Lunker was close, Cyle edged his wife out for best bass. Fun trip, loved the banter back and forth.

We only had a few hour long trips this weekend, which were never enough time for him. But we made the most of our 41 bass. I now have a good net man, we netted bass for each other- he is getting to be a good scooper.

Mike and his brother Todd are quarterly RRA Patrons, so when Glenn posted he had an evening open they jumped on it. And boy was it a great decision! It was non stop action from beginning to end with multiple fish caught at every move.

It also helped that Mike and Todd are experienced anglers. Thanks guys for choosing Reel River!

If you want to get in on some more of this summer action, call or txt Glenn for more info. He only has a few spots left 540-247-4152

Pat had a fantastic trip in the spring with Glenn. This time he brought his son Liam for a 4hr evening trip to beat the heat. At times the action was non stop.

With water starting to clear Keitech swims on Jigmaster screw lock heads worked best.

Thanks guys for choosing Reel River Adventures. A few evening dates are still available, Contact Glenn to get in on this summer bite! 540-247-4152

Kevin wanted to celebrate Jeff’s Retirement with a fishing trip on the North Branch. Timing couldn’t have been better. Outside of getting a little wet Thursday evening, the 8hr PM/AM trip was perfect.

Kevin was curious as to what the ratio was between classes, so I had several clickers going and I measured almost every bass.

Marc and brother inlaw Rob joined Glenn for their 2nd trip of the year. The trip was a Hawg Fest. Size and numbers were strong. Marc had a 4+ and several more close.

Swims were key on Jigmaster screw lock heads. You can see the smiles and the quality of their catch! Thanks guys for choosing Reel River looking forward to our fall trip!

Glenn has a few openings left to be on his call list for Sept. 540-247-4152.

Emit joined Justin when a school function kept Justin’s boys from making the trip. Emit had not fished for 10-15yrs, but you really wouldn’t have guessed it.

The guys landed just over 100 bass during their 8hr Split Trip and at least another 30 shorts on top of that.

Weather has been beautiful with highs barely reaching the 80’s. Summer time fishing is about as good as it gets up on the North Branch.

Lots of fun. And hey Emit, send me a photo of that new Rod & Reel when you get it. I love relighting that fire !

Richard and his son inlaw Terry joined Glenn for another outstanding summer evening trip on the main.

Several large fish were brought aboard the River Raptor including Terrys 4.3 # shown in the posted photos. Terry has fished with Glenn 3 times in the past year and managed at least a 4+ every trip.

Power fishing continues to rule the Main. Thanks guys for always choosing Reel River for all your Susky adventures!

Rich and Ken joined me for a morning of fishing on the North Branch. Kenny needed to keep the trip around 5 hours and the guys managed 64 bass from ~7am to Noon.

As the river levels fall back to normal, the water temps continue to rise. Currently at the mid 70’s mark. The fishing has returned to the summer time catching.

Top Water, Swims, Cranks, and Craw Imitations took the majority of the bass.

For the last 2 weeks Glenn has been doing a number of recon trips on the Juniata and Susquehanna. The rise and stain opened up some summer opportunities for evening trips.

Chris and his son Lukas joined Glenn one evening last week. Several great bass were landed by the father son team.

We had to resort to power fishing to get the bite and size they wanted.

A fun trip with Bryan and Jim. These guys are old fishing buddies and DRFA (Delaware River Fishermen’s Association) alumni. And while their home base is the Lower Delaware River, their fishing adventures have taken them all over the Susquehanna River.

The duo landed 111 bass during their 8hr Split Trip and even through the air temps were in the 50-65° mark, it is still August. Their 3 best were 17 to 17.5”, with the vast majority Being 11-14”. That’s Summertime Bass’n on the NB.

Soft Plastic profiles took most with an early morning focus on Top Water Plugs, Buzz Baits and Cranks.

Already starting to lose daylight. That special time of year.

Rick Barrow is a Combat Veteran and you would never guess he is nearly 80yrs old. At least not when it comes to fishing. He was rigged and ready to climb aboard early to make the most of every single minute on the water. Rick lives to fish.

He landed 78 bass on his solo trip and I added roughly a dozen more trying a bunch of kitchen-sink stuff. Most of Ricks bass came from Crawling Lures on the bottom, while a few came on Buzz Baits and Cranks- all in all, bass were caught on a variety of craw and swim profiles, drug along the river’s bottom.

River is stained, up a little in depth and down in temperature to the upper 60’s today.

Glenn was able to get his son Matthew out for a few Susquehanna River Smallmouth as the river was rising. Nice to have a scouting buddy under the same roof!

Sick Custom Spinnerbaits and Keitech Swims on Jigmaster swim heads did the heavy lifting.

As the river levels drops into safe fishing levels in a few days, Glenn will have openings for 4hr Evening trips. If you want to get on his call list, call/txt Glenn direct 540-247-4152 to get in on this summer action high water action. Especially for those who have the flexibly to go on short notice due to these ideal conditions for summer high water.

Muddy Water Monday

With water down several feet since early Sunday morning’s peak, we cleaned the mud off the ramp and tried a few spots. ~2 dozen landed and several drops, we are still several days until I would feel comfortable (ie. Safe) guiding.

Strike King Cranks took all but one during the 3+ hour recon.

Catching up on a report that was lost in the shuffle. Sorry guys!

After all the fun during his Spring trip with Glenn, Joe brought his brother Mark for a day on the Susquehanna, cooler temps and a little stain is always a plus.

The early morning start paid off with several bigs before sunrise. Joe and Mark have fished all over together for many years. They were so happy with the day the grinning, smiles and laughter never stopped. It's really what fishing is all about. The experience!

When the trip ended, dates were booked with Glenn for 2025. Thanks Joe for the choosing Reel River!

Last time Colin fished with me he mentioned his 11 yr old son Gavin and how much he likes to fish. They live right on the Delware and while there are some great fish there, it can be stingy at times.

With kind of a crappy weather week creating rising muddy water up here on the North Branch, I haven’t been sure what to tell people about the weeks trips. But Colin, not wanting to disappoint his son, asked if we could give the rain and muddy water a try Thursday afternoon and Friday morning.

So they came and we did our best to fish around the rain, but we got wet, as it rained more than it didn’t. Fish however cooperated wonderfully. Team father and son broke the 100 bass mark during their 8hrs Split trip. Best of all, we were off the water before Tropical Storm Debby came down hard on us.

Gavin was quickly given the title BFG for Big Fish Gavin after landing a 25” Flathead, followed immediately with a 15 and 16” smallmouth. He was stoked and short of a few snack breaks, he fished all afternoon and all this morning.

So much fun! Colin, Gavin… I mean BFG, thanks for coming up and fishing the muddy river and choosing Reel River Adventures.

Zman, Keitech and Jigmasters made this all possible. Z-Man Fishing Products Rattle Snaker made the difference in this muddy, super low visibility water.

Curt enjoyed a Summer Split-Trip with Kevin and Gabe. This was the first time these two college buddies have seen each other in 15yrs. But you wouldn’t have guessed it, seemed like just yesterday based on the conversations. We can all relate to how fast time slips away.

Curt now knows more about Honey Bees and my wife was wishing she was aboard. Gabe has dozens of hives and you can tell it is his passion.

Top water bite was working but oddly not producing size. Bite was something like 10-12 bass an hour but try as they may, big fish were not playing.

Thanks for choosing Reel River guys!!! Hope to see you again soon!

Nolan, Cormack, their cousin Sean with a little help from parents (who platooned in shifts) put 128 bass over the rails during their 8hr Split Trip.

What a mess of fun watching these boys over the years. Three youth anglers casting and catching at the same time with few opportunities for mom and dad but they did get some time in.

Sean lead the boat with 44 or 45 bass. Amazing feel for the bite. We had a heart breaker or two on a few bigs, but they did really well.

Carlos and his buddy Huck broke the 100 mark on their visit north to Endless Mountain Campground.

Bass were at times stingy and at times very active. They were deep and shallow, off and on at times. Size was all over the place and at times they wanted lures sitting and other times, if you were not moving it a lot, they didn’t want it. So in short…

“Typical Summer Fishing”.

Fun trip, enjoyed spending the Split Trip with these guys!

David, Jaden and Bryan made the journey to Endless Mountain Campground for a 5hr Morning trip.

Cloud Cover was kind and everyone fished well. The bass were active and while we didn’t have problems finding fish (75 bass, 1 juvenile pike and a small flathead landed), size was difficult.

ZMan BugZ & HogZ did almost all the work.

He is so much like me it’s comical. Find water, ocean, lake, river, creek, pond or swamp and all he wants to do is fish and find critters.

Fish got away while he was bringing it in, and he was perfectly fine with it. Just cast again, soaking wet, chilled and shivering, it took all we could do to pull him off the water last night.

Bill and Cligiel put nearly 120 bass in the boat, but that is not the highlight of the 8Hr Split-Trip, was finally putting a good handle on some size.

Perhaps it was the break in the heat, perhaps it was the coming full moon, regardless the bass ate like they have been, BUT the average size was solid throughout.

Swims out performed top water and creatures more significantly than I have seen in the past few weeks. Let’s hope it continues…

Ted and Bob are up at Endless Mountain Campground fishing for a couple of days and spent an 8hr Split-Trip with Reel River Adventures. The guys landed just over 120 bass and a lone walleye.

3.75 and 4” Swims took the early round of bass, but once the sun was out, Zman’s BugZ was the answer.

A few nice bass and a few heartbreakers as well, I guess that is why they got so big in the first place. Bass Acrobatics were crazy today.
