Featured Destination: Greece
Greece is a country in southeastern Europe with thousands of islands throughout the Aegean and Ionian seas. Influential in ancient times, it's often called the cradle of Western civilization. Athens, its capital, retains landmarks including the 5th-century B.C. Acropolis citadel with the Parthenon temple. The following are only a few of the thousands of rich places you can visit there.
Shaped like Poseidon’s trident, Halkidiki’s prongs jut out into the Aegean Sea. Lush green forests extend all the way to the beachfront where reflections of golden sunlight add sparkling hues to turquoise waters. Long stretches of beautiful ever-changing shoreline, unique archaeological sites, world-renowned Christian monuments, lesser-known natural wonders and man-made masterpieces have all helped shape the region’s diverse identity.
Lefkada is surrounded by a total of 24 islets - Aristotle Onassis’ Skorpios being one of them. It connects to the opposite coast of Central Greece via a floating swing bridge. On Lefkada you will find churches and monasteries, picturesque villages, lush vegetation, idyllic coves of transparent, turquoise waters, and hospitable locals.
On the easternmost side of Greece you’ll come across Kastellorizo, one of the smallest yet prettiest islands. The island has a long history including the knights of St John, who built Castello Rosso on the reddish rock above the port.
Enjoy beautiful gorges, and swim in the crystal clear waters of Ikaria. The thermal springs on the island are renowned for their chemical composition. The unparalleled local lifestyle, the famous festivals and traditional dances, and the local customs, enhance this impressive destination.
With the passage of time the island of Corfu may have changed, but any traveler can still feel the spirit of a distant glorious past. Its rich multi-cultural heritage, its historic monuments, its stunning natural landscape, its crystal clear seas, and its excellent weather all year round explain why Corfu is weaving a powerful spell on its visitors.

"Genuine, passionate heartfelt service."
Another service post for my beloved clients and followers:
Do you really need the "Real ID"?
NO!
The DMV will keep telling you to make sure you are "ready to fly" and "ready for airport requirements", but what they aren't telling you is this: you can also just use your passport or military ID.
That's right. Get your passport if you don't have one. That's the REAL ID! Get it before May of 2025 if you want to fly anywhere. In fact, it's the only real ID I intend to use, because it allows me to fly anywhere in the world.
TIP: Make sure you don't get the passport card, unless you also intend to get the book. The passport card does not allow you to fly in another country. It only allows ground travel. To me it is plain useless, but I will leave that determination to you.
Ask me if you want to know more about this, and I will be happy to fill you in!

ONCE IN A LIFETIME
A Polar Expedition in the ice of the Arctic, from Greenland to Svalbard, on the ice-breaker Le Commandant Charcot.
Whether from the exterior decks of your ship, during an outing in an inflatable dinghy or a kayak, or during a hike near blue-tinged icebergs, you will have multiples opportunities to get to know this wild and stunning world a little better.
Through PONANT’s alliance with The Explorers Club, this voyage will feature Vickie Siegel who works at the intersection of autonomous robotics, polar research, planetary science, and cave exploration. Also featuring Mike Magidson, director of more than twenty documentaries and short films, Nick Rains, Australian ambassador, and Adrian McCallum, Head of Engineering at University of the Sunshine Coast. For his research project, he will gather sea ice and oceanographic data from seldom-explored regions, crucial for refining satellite observations and climate models. Expect his findings to offer captivating narratives and valuable insights.
In extreme conditions, at the end of spring when ice dots the barren landscapes, these remote parts reveal themselves to travellers. Despite the harsh climate and environment, the wildlife thrives here, offering the humble and patient observer the most wonderful of rewards.
We are privileged guests in these extreme lands.
Online brochures are available that go in depth about where the Le Commandant Charcot can go, and what you may find there.

Feature Destination: Kauai
Kauai is nicknamed "the Garden Isle" thanks to the tropical rainforest covering much of its surface. The oldest and northernmost island in the Hawaiian chain is draped in emerald valleys, sharp mountain spires and jagged cliffs aged by time and the elements. The dramatic cliffs and pinnacles of its Nāpali Coast have been featured in major Hollywood films. This 17-mile stretch of coastline is lined with cliffs up to 3,000-foot tall, accented with lush green valleys, cascading waterfalls and sea caves. Inaccessible by car, you can hike or take an air or boat tour to view this breathtaking natural wonder.
The most famous attraction on the West Side is breathtaking Waimea Canyon, also called the “Grand Canyon of the Pacific.” Hiking trails and scenic overlooks offer sweeping views of rugged crags and plunging valleys dipping more than 3,600 feet into the earth. There’s nothing else in Hawaiʻi quite like it.
Kauaʻi's East Side is sometimes referred to as the Royal Coconut Coast for the groves of coconut palms that grow in its resort areas. The most populated district on the island, about 16,000 of the island's 71,000 residents reside in the Wailua/Kapa‘a area. Amongst the clusters of coconut trees you’ll find historic places, amazing beaches and memorable attractions.
Kauaʻi’s lush landscapes and pristine beaches are a feast for the senses. You'll find a multitude of things to do around the island — whether it’s an exhilarating zipline adventure through the jungle, a relaxing day at the beach, or a kayaking trip on one of Kauaʻi's rivers. The Garden Isle is a true adventurer’s playground.

"Let's make this easier."
I am going to continue to offer excellent service each day to my clients and followers. Here is some good news:
The US House of Representatives has just passed a "No Hidden Fees" act that will ensure transparency of total cost to all forms of accommodation. No Hidden FEES Act (H.R. 6543) means no more "taxes and mandatory fees" skewing your hotel quotes so that you don't even know what you are really paying for your lodging. If approved by the Senate it will be sent to President Biden to enact into law.
I am even more excited about the new "Junk Fee Ban" proposed by the Federal Trade Commission that would impact more companies than the No Hidden FEES Act, including airlines. I recently had to inform a client that even though the airline (which shall remain nameless) had initially quoted an upgrade to business class at only 1,000 more than economy, that with the added mandatory fees (at $1500 each), it was actually going to cost $5000 more for the two of them to upgrade. Sheesh, I don't think 8 hours in a lay-down chair, and possibly a few drinks is worth that upgrade cost. Do you? What do you think?

"Choose genuine, passionate heartfelt service. Choose Joy."
Service Scenario:
You have booked your flights. You have coordinated your family and friends. You have made your plans and your reservations at your destination.
But then THIS happens:
The email reads: "We are sorry but we have made some changes to your flight."
You catch your breath as you realize you now you have 20 minutes to make your plane change in Chicago, or you are arriving 6 hours later than you expected, or your non-stop flight becomes a connecting flight and travel will now take half the day.
Or, the unthinkable: "We have CANCELLED your flight."
What are your rights? What do you do?
If you have retained my services I am right there with you, to help you through this travel hiccup. That's my job.
1) The long-time rule is that if an airline makes a “significant” change to your flight, you have the right to a) a full refund or b) to ask to be put on a different flight, without a change fee and often without having to pay more if the new flight is more expensive. It has been left up to the individual airlines to define "significant" in the past, and this varied from 60 minutes to 4 hours for delays.
2) The US Department of Transportation has introduced a recent regulation on airlines. This sets the threshold for "significant" to less than 3 hours delay for domestic, and 6 hours delay for international service. Additionally, if your flight departs or arrives at a different airport than you intended, you have more connections, you were downgraded to a lower service, or if new connections are less accessible to a person with a disability your inconvenience would qualify. The rule also mandates that passengers automatically get a refund, rather than having to proactively request it. This regulation is not yet law, but close enough to work with airlines by calling and requesting a different situation, or refund in some cases.
3) If an airline cancels your flight, you’re owed a cash refund. It’s federal law: “A consumer is entitled to a refund if the airline canceled a flight, regardless of the reason, and the consumer chooses not to travel.” This does not mean a voucher.

Feature destination!
The most under-rated National Park: Dry Tortugas, in the Florida Keys.
Dry Tortugas consists of 40 acres across 7 islands, and 99 percent of the park is water! Snorkeling and wildlife viewing are the main activities here.
Folks either take a private boat, ferry, or sea plane out here for the day to snorkel, explore the islands, and picnic, or transport their camping gear (ferry or boat only) to the designated campgrounds for an experience like no other.
Generally, winter and spring are the best times to visit. There is no cell-service, running water, electricity, or flushing toilets on the islands. This is your chance to go "off-grid". A ticket to the park comes with up to 7 consecutive days.
Fort Jefferson was built with 16 million bricks from the US in 1847 and housed 1,500 troops and 2,500 prisoners during the Civil War. Just walking around in this structure is a reason to visit.

Loneliness is an epidemic on the rise. But the good news is the ways to combat loneliness are on the rise as well! Solo travel is trending and I am your personal travel concierge.
Traveling solo may be one of the best ways to connect with the places and people in another land. This is because you are less likely to be distracted by the wants and needs of another person, which leaves you free to pursue your own desire to explore your destination fully: in your own time and in your own way.
You may be more approachable as a single traveler. You may connect with the people in a new place over your passions such as art, cuisine or music. You may understand yourself just a bit better by the end.
With my service you can safely travel the world alone if you wish. When you take a leap of faith and stop waiting to take that trip, you may realize that you are more connected with others in the world than you thought.
Much love and blessings to you!

Begin with a walk through thousands of artworks in the Vatican Museum before moving into the iconic Sistine Chapel. Many visitors find its sheer magnitude and beauty overwhelming. Your expert will give you the background and history you need to appreciate the craftsmanship while also understanding the stories held within the famous frescoes, including The Creation of Adam.

Use special access to enter St. Peter’s Basilica, skipping long lines outside, to see Michelangelo’s famous Pieta, St. Peter’s grave, and the incredible detail of Bernini’s canopy, among many other breathtaking statues and mosaics.

Afternoon tea is wonderful! Especially when you take the time to sit down with someone and take your time in a beautiful setting. Especially the British way, with pretty dishes and snacks. Especially in Victoria, British Columbia.
Take a quick ride on the Victoria Clipper from Seattle! In about 2 hours and 45 minutes, sitting in comfort and enjoying the scenery go by, you could be in Victoria, Canada. You could check in at the Fairmont Empress Hotel, with it's stunning visage one of the first things you see as you pull in the harbor. There you will be greeted warmly and treated like royalty.
The Fairmont Empress has been doing high tea in the Lobby Lounge for over a hundred years. Royalty and celebrities have enjoyed the remarkable ambience of Fairmont Empress since its opening in 1908. Experience the regal history in one of the hotel's guest rooms or suites, newly restored and elegantly appointed, offering panoramic views of Victoria or the Inner Harbor.

Why celebrate the bicycle?
(June 3rd is World Bicycle Day)
"Acknowledging the uniqueness, longevity and versatility of the bicycle, which has been in use for two centuries, and that it is a simple, affordable, reliable, clean and environmentally fit sustainable means of transportation, fostering environmental stewardship and health, the General Assembly decided to declare 3 June World Bicycle Day.
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), safe infrastructure for walking and cycling is also a pathway for achieving greater health equity. For the poorest urban sector, who often cannot afford private vehicles, walking and cycling can provide a form of transport while reducing the risk of heart disease, stroke, certain cancers, diabetes, and even death. Accordingly, improved active transport is not only healthy; it is also equitable and cost-effective." -United Nations

Intriguing Istanbul

"Istanbul, once known as Byzantium, blends its cultures and history into an exciting city with so much to offer. Founded during Neolithic times, it is one of the oldest continuously inhabited spots of the world, holding true to its historic heritage through exotic mosques, colorful basilicas and cathedrals, and ancient bazaars. In fact, the Historic Areas of Istanbul on the Bosphorus peninsula were named a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1985. Standing between the East and the West, Turkey’s largest city offers an aura of intrigue and charm that appeals to the masses." -Ama Connections

Unique Travel Experiences
Who loves travel? I would like to put together several small group trips that focus on cultural immersion and education. These would include unique experiences not often found in the "regular itineraries".
I am considering 1) "James Beard Foundation" gastronomic cruise from Venice to Athens on the Wind Surf by Windstar, 2) a river cruise from Amsterdam to Switzerland on the Rhine and Moselle Rivers with Ama Waterways, and 3) the m/s Paul Gauguin, a small yacht in the South Pacific, featuring remote Polynesian islands that large cruise ships cannot go to.
Don't just travel to a place. Immerse yourself.
