Southern Oregon 🫶 Trail Running
With over 200 days of annual sunshine and thousands of miles of trails to be explored, it’s no wonder the Rogue Valley has become a mecca for runners. Explore these trail runs on your next visit!
📍East Applegate Ridge Trail: This is a 10.4-mile out-and-back trail near Jacksonville, Oregon. Considered a challenging route when completed, this trail can be enjoyed in increments and is a popular spot for birding and horseback riding. Dogs are allowed with some off-leash area permitted.
📍Prescott Park: This state park has 1,774 acres of trails to explore. With varying elevation gains and ability levels, there is something for everyone. A local favorite for a quick trail run is Twilight Trail or take the more challenging route and head up to Roxy Ann Peak.
📍Mt. Ashland Trail: Discover this 7.8 mile trek up Mount Ashland. This trail is as rewarding as it is challenging, with panoramic views of the Siskiyou Mountains.

Ride the Rim 2024 is just a few weeks away!
On September 7th and 14th, Crater Lake National Park hosts Ride the Rim, a biking event where a 25 mile stretch known as the East Rim Drive, is blocked from vehicles providing a safe, pedestrian-friendly experience for bikers, walkers, and runners alike. Here’s some things to know before you go:
⛔ The road will be blocked from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The ride takes about 4 hours to complete so plan accordingly. Should you add the date of the ride?
🚴 You can choose to bike beyond the vehicle-free portion and ride the entire rim for a 33-mile journey. While the extended stretch has more difficult terrain, it is a huge accomplishment to complete.
🚲: Need last minute supplies? Medford has a variety of bike stores to grab what you need before heading out to the rim. Check out these stores: Adventure Bicycles, REI, Public Lands, Medford Cycle Sport, and Al's Cycle & Hobby.

HIGHWAY 230 and 62 are open!
From ODOT: SW Oregon: TRAFFIC ALERT: An error on Google Maps has been causing some confusion for travelers this week.
Google Maps is showing a road closure on Oregon 62 and Oregon 230 in the areas of Trail, Prospect, Union Creek, Diamond Lake and Crater Lake. These highways are NOT closed.
The only current closure in this area is at the north entrance to Crater Lake National Park from the intersection of Oregon 138. People using Google Maps to navigate through this area are being rerouted many miles out of the way.
In some cases, they are being directed onto forest roads, some of which are currently experiencing wildfire activity. We have reached out to Google, but have not heard back. Travelers are advised to check TripCheck.com for current road conditions in Oregon.
