I’ve been sharing carriage rides with folks since 1980. Our first carriage was built in the basement of a restaurant named, Jefferson Square. In the Downtown Memphis area, we provide guided historical tours, quiet romantic rides, and taxi service. We also travel to locations across West Tn, East Ar, and North Ms as needed for weddings, parties, funerals, and holiday celebrations.

The city of Memphis awoke this morning to the tragic news that once again one of the brave men and women who go out every single day and night to serve and protect their fellow citizens had made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.

Officer Joseph McKinney lost his life during a shootout early this morning in south Memphis. Memphis police officers responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle. As officers approached the vehicle, they were fired upon. Three officers were struck by gunfire. Police Officer McKinney was shot and killed and two officers wounded. We are eternally thankful that the other two officers injured are going to be okay and we all pray for swift healing from their injuries.

Officer Joseph McKinney lost his life bravely defending the citizens of this city by never hesitating to put himself in harm’s way. We are truly heartbroken. In the midst of this tragedy, we honor the bravery and service he displayed every single day fighting to ensure the safety of the citizens he was sworn to protect.

May his sacrifice and memory forever serve as a guiding beacon of true heroism and strength.
