Mr. Silvey’s “People’s Grocery Store” Rising Star is a 4x4 located at 401 11th Steet in Mena.

Mr Silvey was a Rising Star in Mena. He operated the People’s Grocery at this location. The original building was destroyed by fire and built back in brick. The 2009 Mena tornado destroyed that building. A metal building in now up in its place. Rising Star is on the 11th street side of the building.

Excited tonight! Did quite a bit of barn quilt designing this weekend. Happy to say that we have 4 new orders for Barn Quilts that will be placed in Polk County with application to be on the official Barn Quilt Trail!
Janssen Place B n B; Janssen Avenue Florist; and Roberts Tax and Bookkeeping will soon be sporting new art!
I would LOVE to get Barn Quilt Art on Cherry Hill Store; the Big Fork Mall; and Thibideaux…. Y’all spread the word! It’s time to get enough in place to join the Arkansas Trail.
Any business or individual can be a part of this. The more the better!

Welcome to the official Polk Co Arkansas Barn Quilt Trail page!

What is a Barn Quilt Trail? It’s an advertised list of art displayed for the public to view at various places throughout the county. The art follows the Americana patterns of traditional quilts. Barn Quilts are painted onto weatherproof substrates using exterior paints and hung for people to enjoy. Quilt trails have large followings. People often travel across the country looking for and photographing the designs. Arkansas has about 20 counties listed as part of the program. Polk Co is half way to the minimum number of 12 installations.
