Last time the International Space Station passed over Mena, I was able to capture this photo. While it is really cool, it’s not the best I can do because I was not fully prepared how fast it would be moving across the sky and I did not have my gear setup perfectly to capture it.
I’m sure hoping to change that and get an amazing shot this coming Sunday when it passes over again!
If you’re here, make sure to look up to the sky starting at 6:19pm as the ISS passes over from the NW flying toward the SE! It will be visible for a maximum of 7 minutes and if you plan on getting any good shots, you better be well prepared because it happens a lot faster than you would think! Lol

Did a little geocaching this afternoon and while out and about we decided to take the boys on a little hike. We were going to keep it super simple by only hiking the half mile and very flat Orchard Loop out at the Earthquake Ridge Complex.
However, after completing that half mile, we were obviously not even remotely tired and the boys were beyond fired up so we decided to throw in the Carriage Trail and finish on the Fern Loop.
Very pretty trails and super family friendly and moderate for these little guys! Mason’s little 2yo legs were DONE by the end of it though. Haha
We plan to get back out tomorrow and find atleast 1 geocache which will be our 200th find overall since starting our account! We are pumped and the boys absolutely love it.

Just barely 30 minutes from our cabins is the Rich Mountain Fire Tower. It is truly what I think of when I envision a mountain fire lookout tower and it is gorgeous.
Well worth a stop if you are driving the Talimena Scenic Drive between Queen Wilhelmina and Mena!

Standing on the front porch of Alpine Lodge back in the Fall and this little one walked right up to me basically. Funny thing is that I was on a phone call talking at regular volume and it was not scared at all!
Love having all of this wildlife on our property all the time. We have deer sightings constantly out here and even the rare but occasional bear sighting!
Oh and the coyotes pretty much lose their minds nightly. They even talk back to you sometimes if you can howl loud enough. Lol

We have no clue what this spot is actually called but we call it Graffiti Mountain. Lol
While doing things like this may seem super fun and neat at the time, please don’t do this to our beautiful area! I’m sure that this is some sort of a rite of passage of growing up around here, but it sure does look messy…

We love it and it’s super easy to see at night with the hyper-reflective vinyl decal!
I erased the last two digits of the phone number on the old sign so as to not confuse any of you about which phone number to call. 😂🤣

Hanging out over on our sister property with some friends and we discovered that we now have a new cabin cat and we decided to name her T-Rex. The “T” is short for Tuxedo due to her coloring. 😂🤣
If you see T-Rex, don’t be afraid to pet or feed her, just please do not let her into the cabin! She’s a sweetheart but we don’t want any inside pets! Lol

The Rock House.
WAY up on the north side of the Oden Loop is this super off-the-beaten-path cave. It is enormous and is a SUPER fun find to stumble across. This photo does not do justice to the true size of this thing.
Have you ever been? Do you wanna go? Come on up and let us show you! It does require a little bit of a hike though, so any of you passenger seat sightseers are going to struggle to see it. 😂🤣
Gonna have to put in a bit of work to see this one but it’s totally worth it!

The snow is our FAVORITE!!! It’s unbelievably beautiful out here when it snows! So much fun to get out and ride in as well as long as you can stand the cold! 😂🤣
We about froze our tails off today while our getting these shots but it was totally worth it!
We also made a short little video of us driving our truck down Trails 1 & 2 from the North to the West trailhead. Very pretty out today!

!!!Fun video alert!!! Yesterday evening, thanks to an absolute moron, we had the opportunity to take the boys out to Crooked Creek Falls and do some voluntary cleanup of the area. This area is gorgeous and a great hangout spot for an afternoon of swimming and picnicking. If you don’t already know, ask us how to get out there next time you’re up! We picked up THREE full bags of trash AND an entire tent that someone just up and left. Let us just say this right here right now… (and we feel quite confident that we speak for the entire area) If you are the kind that litters or even remotely thinks it’s ok to leave a place worse than you found it, you are not welcome here. We want you all to come up and have a great time but please understand that this area is FREE for all to enjoy. The major trash cleanup efforts over the past few months are 100% voluntary by folks like us who love this area and want to see it remain open and beautiful for all to take part in. Please do your part by packing out anything that you pack in. And if you’re so inclined, maybe even carry a trash bag or two with you and pick up a little bit along the way. If everyone pitched in just a tiny bit, this whole place would be spotless. Also, we still have a little bit of availability in July and August! Don’t let summer slip away before you know it! Come see us and all of the amazing sights and places that this area has to offer. We promise you’ll find something up here to love and come back time and time again for! Thanks to everyone who has done their part in keeping this area clean, free, open, and beautiful! Don’t make Asher and Mason have to pick up any more “glitter” (litter as Asher calls it)! Haha. We’ve got several of y’all checking in today and going out riding and stuff so please be careful and let us know if you need directions on how to get around the back way via Polk 62. As you can see, Mack’s Creek is looking a little more like Mack’s Raging River this afternoon so please please please be careful!! Do not attempt to cross any low water crossings that have 6 inches of water or more going across it, especially if it’s running quickly.
I know it sounds like Frank Sinatra, but it’s not... 😉 Didn’t want to get put in Facebook jail again for copyright infringement, so I had to do a little improvising and change up the words to match the video. Lol It was a perfect evening to float away in our creek! Except Amberlee couldn’t because I hooked her to the winch so she could fully relax. Hahaha
