This past Saturday, Mayor Michael Pedersen delivered a proclamation to Heather Reynosa and Holly Carroll in honor of their parents, naming June 22, 2024 “Mr. & Mrs. James C. Zeger Day”, for their 50-plus years of service to the Mercersburg community. Mr. James Zeger was a former Mercersburg mayor and made significant contributions to the Lions Club and Fix JB Sport, among many other initiatives in the area. Mrs. Linda L. Zeger taught third grade at Mercersburg Elementary and made huge contributions to the Mercersburg Women’s Club and Mercersburg Lioness Club. Even after their passing, the Zeger family has shown their generosity to a number of local charities. We honor their commitment to Mercersburg and strive to follow their inspiring legacy! ❤️

Originally situated at Stony Batter in Cove Gap, the cabin was part of trading post complex built by his father, James Buchanan Sr. Now situated on the grounds of the Mercersburg Academy, the cabin has moved a handful of times. This photograph shows the cabin when it was placed on Fayette street in Mercersburg.
