Massage promotes muscle relaxation, which in turn reduces stress. It is helpful in treating problems exacerbated by muscle tension, such as headaches, backaches, stiffness and insomnia. Health and Wellness Coaching is a partnership in making desired changes in your life. The changes could be motivated by health conditions; the need to lose weight, engage in regular exercise or stop smoking, for example. Or the motivation could simply be the desire for a more balanced life. The coaching process is deeply supportive in implementing change. Together we will explore your values and work to align your desired goals with those values, which helps reduce long held ambivalence to the changes you want to make. Coach/Client relationship

• Coaches work with the whole person. They listen to your concerns and ask powerful questions to help motivate you to make the changes you desire.

• Coaches spend time exploring what is most important to you and allow you to choose your course of action for whatever health concern you choose to address.
• Coaches guide you through a process to maximize the possibility of your success.

• You and your coach work in partnership to identify obstacles to change and create strategies for moving forward toward your goals.

• Coaches support you in tracking your weekly progress and hold you accountable for your commitments.

• Coaches provide additional resources for making healthy behavior changes. Mindfulness Classes
Mindfulness
$10.00 per class or $85.00 for 12 classes

Mindfulness practice is paying attention on purpose to what is here without judgment. These 60 minute classes teach a 3 point skill for detaching from monkey mind and relaxing the body. Our bodies stay "on duty" due to the mind organizing the multitude of responsibilities our lives entail. We tighten up. The result is what I call "invisible holding." This is what creates chronic neck and back pain and other body ailments. If your life and body feel full of stress these classes are the tools for creating balance in your life and body. Cutting edge laboratory research is beginning to reveal some of the biological pathways through which mindfulness training may positively impact physical health and the healing processes. For example, the MBSR study by Davidson and colleagues showed that individuals who had the largest shifts in brain activity associated with positive emotional experiences also had the strongest antibody responses to a flu vaccine. That study was the fist to show that mindfulness training can change the brain, and theta brain changes were directly associated with a change in the immune system, which is designed to protect the brain against disease. Other studies have documented lower levels of stress hormones (cortisol) and pro-inflammatory molecules (cytokines) following MBSR in people with serious medical conditions, including breast cancer, prostate cancer, and other types of cancer. Finally, research has consistently shown that mindfulness training effectively reduces symptoms of stress negative mode states, and increases emotional wellbeing and quality of life, among persons with a variety of chronic medical conditions. ~DUKE INTEGRATIVE MEDICINE

We will be taking off from and representing Tame LLC, Meridian's Premiere Wellness Center to share the wisdom of mindfulness and yoga practice to the Addictions Professionals of Mississippi. Mindfulness and mindfulness movement, yoga, are powerful tools for transformation. We plan to have a lot of fun!

Hey All! I am just getting up after taking Angela to the airport early this morning. I fell back asleep for a much needed rest. The integration (which will keep happening for a bit) comes in the quiet and the allowing and in sleeping for me. I am in such gratitude for each of us and for how this retreat sprang forward out of nowhere, for never having met, in person, this amazing person named Angela Blaha, and having the inner YES to bringing her down here to Mississippi to do some work together. And of course, her YES to coming and to her courage to not hide her mission and purpose with the world. Gratitude for saying yes, and for all of you for saying YES to come. I realize that IT, life, is always just and unfolding of a YES, a yes to be here on Earth as a soul, a yes to the inklings that move us forward. I also send a great thanks to my dearest friend Susannah Furr for supporting our Yes by offering her crystal bowl healing with us this weekend. To everyone who came, enjoy spreading your YES in the world (and to your your own self!)...and don't forget to breathe as you let go of what no longer serves you. Carry on in full BLISS!

AS 2014 completes, I am grateful and thankful for the community that I participate and grow, through and with, this past year. It is rich and nourishing. Also, I am grateful to have relationships that have moved past the boundaries of Meridian to many cities in the state through our retreats. Thank you all and I look forward to the year ahead to keep sharing awareness and love and permission and allowing within and without.
Happy New Year may we all expand exponentially this year into a deep inner freedom from our fears and anxieties and rest into the presence underneath all things.

The Eastern and Western medicine are truly good partners if we were able to connect them to the bigger picture health and healing. I love acupuncture for its natural ability and wisdom to assist the body in balancing itself. It's innate function is extraordinary to maintaining health in a body that is constantly under a huge stress response in our Western culture. AND I love that the medical environment in Meridian is open and supportive of this practice. So glad Dr. Valentine has partnered up with Dr Cox and massage therapist Bobbie Partridge to offer these effective therapies for all of us here. I am a massage therapist also with the perspective that massage is medicinal modality for the body. A common perspective in the deep south is that it is just pampering treatment. Oh so not true!!

I've experienced drumming as a healing experience both in my playing the instrument and in the listening and dancing to it. I would love to have my own drum! and play with others in Meridian. Just plain fun and healthy to me as it takes the brain out of familiar linear thinking patterns and engages the frontal lobe and areas of the brain that are expansive and creative. Massage therapists and relaxation therapists use sound and rhythm in their work to help clients soften deep within the body. If the mind is engaged, the body follows as a dutiful servant to "do" what you need to "get" somewhere. Music rhythms open the body that's why some alzheimer's disease patients respond more coherently to music they have heard before.
There may be a workshop near if enough people respond!... Dana Tate Bailey is working on putting this together.

Our youth could really rock from this practice and knowledge. As a gift to our children, wouldn't it be great to have this in our school system here in Meridian? Our kids are so connected in ways we never were with the internet etc but most of them are so anxious due to full on schedules of doing and becoming, and are connected to anything but the presence within...the moment... because we are trying to get them in the best schools to make the best grades and on and on, which is a constant needing to be somewhere else. Hear me loosely. There is NOTHING wrong with the drive to be the best you can be and offer your children everything possible to make an impact on this world and to foster their innate gifts.
To me these practices are most important for the young so that faith can be wired in at an age that makes a difference. I know for me knowing something intellectually and knowing something with my whole heart and body are two different things. The second is wisdom. Knowing from your experience.
Breath practice, meditation, mindfulness is so simple. The idea we don't have enough time for it is probably the main reason that keeps us all from the experience and understanding of the benefits of indrawn practice... Our crazy consumption culture is driving us to exhaustion and worry.

WHAT ARE WE PRACTICING?

The painful thing is that when we buy into disapproval, we are practicing disapproval. When we buy into harshness, we are practicing harshness. The more we do it, the stronger these qualities become. How sad it is that we become so expert at causing harm to ourselves and others. The trick then is to practice gentleness and letting go. We can learn to meet whatever arises with curiosity and not make it such a big deal.
