Just over a month since the last post, but the retaining wall on the East driveway is done! I have one more retaining wall to do next Spring and then we'll cover all the retaining walls with veneer rock.

Also, thanks to Whitetail Acres for landscaping the Southeast hill.

2 weeks and 3 more rows on the Driveway's East wall. The higher we go, the longer the rows are, so it takes a lot more block and concrete.

The driveway's East wall is well underway. Given the steps and the curve, this one is really tricky. I also buried the West porch gutter drain pipe and hook the rest of the drain pipes together. One for gutters and one for a French drain.

The concrete steps on the North-South driveway are just about done and I started placing block on the first step. I should be able to get the retaining wall done before it gets too cold.

Again more work on the East side of the driveway. Poured concrete in steps 5 through 9 and dug 10 & 11. If the weather cooperates, I should be able to start laying block this upcoming weekend.

It was a super hot weekend, but I kicked ass! Dug and concreted steps 2, 3, and 4 on the East side of the old Driveway. Dug and prepped steps 5 and 6. Showing in the pics are some old T-post I pounded below the frost line for extra support.

We've been on vacation for a week, so the work has been slowed. After a couple of weeks off, we're back to work on the Driveway, Eastside wall. Most of that time has been just moving dirt and rock. It is amazing how much the Earth has moved on top of the rock. Anyway, I started making steps up the hill side and pouring a concrete footer for a new retaining wall. This pic is just the first step of many heading Northeast. This will take a few months.

Driveway wall time! The West side actually isn't in too bad of shape, but the East side is gone. I picked up most of the rock last year, now it's time to rebuild with proper water management. This is going to take a while.

WOW! It was a hot weekend. We finally finished smoothing out the South hillsides. Now we're ready to make it pretty; just need to find a landscaper. Here's the list:
* Dug up a big-ass stump
* Filled and smooth the dirt
* Chopped up overgrowth near 52
* Started drainage and stair repair on driveway

It's hillside cleanup time! Last weekend I finished the South terrace and rented a tiller to help smooth out the hillsides. I still have a lot of dirt to move and there's a good size stump to dig up, but it's a good start.

Time goes by so fast! The rain and super high winds of the last couple of weeks has slowed down the outside work a bit, but I'm not scared of a little rain. :) Full list:
* Full house cleaning: dusting, sweeping, laundry, etc.
* Cleaned the front porch
* Chopped up, burnt, and stacked a bunch of blown over trees and branches. Mother nature seems to be working against us sometimes!
* Courtyard:
** Finished North retaining wall
** Started and just about finished with the South terrace retaining wall

The North courtyard retaining all is almost done. Making that slight curve was tricky and it's not pretty, but it doesn't have to be. 😀

This weekend I moved more dirt, finished pouring the footer, and started the retaining wall on the East side of the Courtyard. The concrete slab was really unexpected, so it's going to be a lot more work than I was planning. And, yes, I gave the T-post I pulled from the property another life as rebar. Reduce-Reuse-Recycle!

I hated to tear out an old piece of work, but this thing was in bad shape and it didn't match the rest of walls. The weekend was spent mostly removing the rock and dirt. I was able to put down the gravel base and pour a few bags of concrete. Notice the water pipe in the middle... That'll be fun to work around.

Man time is flying by! I will do my best to make more frequent updates. Here's the last three weeks.

* Blew the leaves from the drive, barn, stairs, and porches
* Replaced the main water well pressure switch with a digital switch
* Courtyard:
** Finished the drain. Now the water will go to where is should
** Cleaned up dirt and some extra rock along the wall
** Finished the West retaining wall
** Started & finished the East retaining wall

Water inside & out!

Inside: The water pressure in the house is really low, so we put in a helper pump & tank. This included replacing about 10 feet of steal pipe with copper.

Outside: The main north-to-south drive becomes a river during heavy rain and the water has no where to go, so.... I started the courtyard drain. There were a lot of surprises under the rock, so it took much longer than expected. I should be able to finish it next weekend.

The Chimney dude wanted $3500 to redo the crown. I did it for $110 and 6 hours. Anyway, here is the list for the last few weeks:

* Almost done glazing the master bedroom's Southeast window
* Fixed the wiring in the well house, a mouse chewed them up a bit
* Finished the Walkway's West column
* Started cleanup and repair of the gazebo wall
