Finally was able to visit our friend Lauren and her new place in Little Havana on Calle Ocho for some great food tasting of Cuban food and it was nothing less then spectacular.
She has accumulated a ton of experience working in Havana1957 and Old’s Havana, staples in Miami for quality Cuban food and great service.
What surprised me the most was the interior design.
There was a lot of small things added through the finding room, like a lot. But, still it felt like everything was in its place and there was nothing I would take away.
Next was the food, which was amazing.
I can say easily and with assurance, it had the best croquetas I have tried in Little Havana. Hands down. If you have tried them, I’m pretty sure you will say the same.
The tres leches was also mouthwatering and I wish I had more space to pack another one there.
Feel free to pay them a visit and let us know what did you like there.

Getting away from the busy city life in Key Biscayne, is a common practice for a lot of Miami locals.
Not only it’s so quiet but also it will allow you to see this kind of sunset views 😍

About last night… We had guests from 3 continents, all different ages and walks of life, yet had the most fun on our South Beach Food and Art Deco walking tour.
This is one of the best parts of our job. Learning about different cultures and communities, while getting our bellies full.

The Hotel Palms is really a hidden gem in the ocean side of Miami Beach. Dinner in their restaurant Essensia was an amazing experience, truly.
As Miami’s Oceanside restaurants are not particularly known for their food and service, but more for the vibe and fun, this was a refreshing experience.
The moment you walk in, it has some island atmosphere, but very low key and romantic ambience. Especially the patio.
Once seated, our waitress, an Argentinian lady ( forgot the name, sorry), was having a very warm attitude.
It was surprisingly, the only experience in a while, where you would not feel like a cash bag. Not one time you could feel that she was trying to explain the menu to upsell you on the most expensive stuff.
Now let’s get to the good stuff and explain a bit about the food. The restaurant claims that all ingredients are sourced locally from Florida.
We did try the following:
1. Octopus was probably one of the best you could try in the city. Grilled to perfections and spiced subtlety, so it’s not over powering. Pure perfection.
2. Ceviche was great as well. Not the best one you will try in the city, but still, would order it again and anytime.
3. Lamb shank was delicious and it was tasting as some grandma from the Mediterranean made it in a pit oven.
It didn’t have the lamb flavor at all. You know the one that most people don’t like, which means it was properly marinated and set down.
4. The Churrasco Steak was melting in the mouth. Paired with the truffle and Parmesan fries, it’s a must try.
5. The citrus olive oil cake was just not my thing. Nothing wrong with it, but just not for my taste buds. It was very subtle, and light. Everyone else loved it. But, on the other end the apple tart was to die for. Unreal.

Sometimes we see a restaurant that serves too big of a variety of food and it might not be a good sign.
But has their stuff figured out.
Each dish we tried there was really amazing. Each bite made you want some more.
Have to admit, the appetizers were a bit better, than main courses.
The atmosphere and vibe was way better than you would expect in a restaurant in a mall. Staff super friendly and helpful.

We don't only limit our tours on food, when we explore our neighborhood. Our guides will take you on a stroll to learn anything connected to our community.
On our Little Havana Food Tours, for example, we go to visit a local and family owned cigar factory. Inside, we meet and greet with a people who is a master roller, perfecting the craft for over 25 years.
You will also be indulged in a spectrum of stories of the history of to***co, from seed selection the final process of rolling the ci**rs.
Our roller friends are happy if you find a moment to take a picture or video of them working on their craft and creating a cuban style cigar.
Share some love to your facebook friends and invite them to one of our tours, to support small local businesses.

In this day and age, after a stressfull day of hard work, there is no better way to decompress, than get a Cuban style hand rolled cigar paired with a neat glass of scotch.
I get mine at in Little Havana, as they 100% hand crafted by Cuban exiles. They each have minimum 25 years of experience in the industry.
If you want to learn more about the history of the to***co and ci**rs, its a very easy thing to do.
Just sign up on our Little Havana cultural food tours and you will have a full lesson in a family owned and operated cigar factory.

Little Havana roosters come in all sizes and shapes. A variety that reflects the jambalaya of communities we have in our city and our neighborhood.
As much as I want to explain the whole history about the significance of the roosters for the Cuban and other latin communities, its much more fun to do it in person.
Link in bio will tell you when we have any availabilty to show you our bario.

The street art in Miami a lot of times is unmatchable by any other place in the country.
We are a hotspot for artists coming from all over the country and the world, as they lot of times get in trouble for expressing their opinions and ideas.
This mural on Calle Ocho is done by our local to pay tribute to the Cuban community in the neighborhood.

It's Mojito o'clock in Miami right now.
has some amazing tapas food that you must pair with their mojitos to kill the thirst in the warm humid summers.
Pair with that the art that is exhibited on their walls and you reach a moment of nirvana for a second.
I guarantee you that.
Our garlic shrimps are cooking while we are drinking and stay tuned for some ideas on how to spend the afternoon.

Miami Beach has some of the most beautiful Art Deco era architecture in the world.
Combine that with the addition of pastel colors and noon lights added in the 80's , it's very unique and breathtaking.
If you add to that the stories that we tell and food we try on our food tours in the Art Deco District, you will for sure crkve some more and come back to Miami Beach.
