The world-renowned interactive museum brand is returning to Miami to open its permanent location at the Miami Worldcenter.

Florida is by far the top state where high income households are moving to, according to a recent analysis.

SmartAsset analyzed IRS data from the 2021-2022 tax year for the study. Florida had a net inflow of 29,771 high-income households during the period. That includes 46,874 arriving high-income households, and 17,103 moving elsewhere.

The average income of high-earning arrivals was $907,013. High income households departing Florida earned a more modest $294,189.

The 192,493-square-foot Sears store that for more than half a century has had customers calling it the “Coral Gables Sears” even though it is on the Miami side of the line, may not be long for the street corner.

RK Associates, the current land owner where Sears has been since 1954 at 3655 SW 22nd St., proposes three eight-story mixed-use buildings with 1,050 residential units.

The site plan for the 8.1 acres would also feature paseos, courtyards and parking for about 1,924 vehicles, according to paperwork filed with the city’s Urban Development Review Board on June 20.

The redevelopment could take advantage of Florida’s Live Local Act, which allows developers to sidestep local zoning restrictions if they agree to build affordable workforce housing.

Miami’s Urban Development Review Board recommended approval of RK’s plan for the Sears site with two conditions for the developer: study the intersection of Coral Way and Douglas Road on Southwest 22nd Street and 37th Avenue “and aim for the architecture to be more exciting and prominent at that corner.”

Florida ranks as the 2nd best state to live in, according to a recent analysis from WalletHub. 🌴

The 50 states were ranked based on several factors such as unemployment rates, quality of education and safety. Florida ended with a total score of 59.82 and Massachusetts came in as the #1 state with a total score of 60.52.

Florida has one of the lowest unemployment rates and one of the highest rates of job opportunities per capita, according to the study. It has some of the highest housing costs, but other factors like low tax rates and higher median household income growth “make it a great place to build and grow wealth.”

Florida’s opportunities for leisure like beaches, theme parks and restaurants also helped it rank higher on the WalletHub list.
