Judge Lisa Walsh is scheduled to hear the oral argument between Miami-Dade County vs. City of Miami (Case no. 19-167 AP) on June 16th. Attorney David Winker is requesting Judge Walsh postpone the hearing until it can be held in-person at the Court.

Dear Judge Walsh:

I am writing this letter to request that the oral argument scheduled for June 16, 2020 via zoom be rescheduled until such time that it is possible to have an in-person court hearing.

The future of the Coconut Grove Playhouse and the resolution of this case regarding the County’s effort to overturn the Mayor Francis Suarez’s veto and the recommendation of the City of Miami Historic and Environment Protection Board is of broad public interest throughout our community.

As such, I humbly suggest that oral argument be conducted live in the courtroom with all interested parties present, rather than by Zoom in the middle of a pandemic.
