Blue Monday greeting from Ireland, a land dotted with hundreds of abbeys (intact or in lovely old ruins), some dating back to the 5th & 6th centuries. Here, along the Wild Atlantic Way (Ireland's 1,600 mile coastal trail) is Kylemore Abbey, still home to an active order of Benedictine nuns. Visitors are welcome to explore its historic interior as well as the extensive gardens and walking paths.

Did you know? 💭 The whale shark's spotted pattern is unlike those of their friends. They all have unique markings, just like a human fingerprint. The spots can be white, yellow and gray, and are displayed in a checkerboard pattern! 🏁

Blue Monday with shades of pink from Gozo Island in Malta, one of the best diving destinations in the Mediterranean, and all-around center for water sports. It's one of the few islands in the world with an inland sea: a saltwater lagoon connected to the Med by arched tunnels, and yes, the arches are large enough for a small boat to transit. It's rich historical legacy includes some of the world's oldest freestanding structures. In Maltese, Gozo means "joy", and this island lives up to its name.

Celebrating

Happy , friends! 🐋Calling a blue whale “big” is an understatement. They are positively massive. An adult female can grow to 100 feet long—about the length of a Boeing 737. Blue whales can weigh up to 200 tons (400,000 pounds)! That’s 30 times heavier than an African elephant. In fact, just their tongue can weigh as much as an elephant. Blue whales aren’t just the biggest animals alive in the ocean. They’re not just the biggest animals alive in the world. They are the biggest animals that have ever lived (that we know of, at least). Even the largest dinosaur can’t compare—the Argentinosaurus clocked in at about 220,000 pounds.
