Guests are always blown away by the condition of the original kitchen. Designed by Paul McCobb as part of his collaboration with Mutschler Kitchens, the cabinets have held up incredibly over 60 years.
Mutschler was established around 1912 in Nappanee, Indiana and pioneered the use of porcelain-enamel on surfaces and “Port-Bilt” cabinets which customers could install and also remove to take with them if they moved.
After World War II Mutschler began to lose market share to the rise of steel kitchen cabinets dominated by the steel companies of Youngstown, Ohio. In the 1960s Mutschler responded by hiring furniture designer Paul McCobb who worked with aluminum extrusions, though this style proved to be ahead of its time.
