The waterbuck is an antelope species that can be found throughout southern and East Africa. Appropriately named, they are always found near a water source. Guides on safari often like to humorously distinguish the waterbuck from other antelope species by pointing out the white "toilet seat" mark that is found on their backside.

This lion cub walked confidently up to our vehicle while on game drive recently in Hwange National Park in Zimbabwe. After investigating for a moment, the cub quickly returned back to mother, who was keeping a watchful eye the entire time.

Zimbabwe is a fascinating country where you can explore unique natural highlights including Hwange, Mana Pools National Park, and the magnificent Victoria Falls.

Standoff in South Africa-

Rhinos are known for being quite stoic, but they will react and stand their ground when provoked. This mother rhino (on the left) kept her young one well hidden behind her as a large male approached the pair. The mother gave a small charge, kicking up the dirt and dust around her into a small cloud. The male quickly got the message and continued on his way.

The cheetah seen here was traveling through the area with his brother, and they had their eyes on a distant herd of impala in this moment. Cheetahs often try to make use of any vantage point they can while hunting, whether it be a termite mound, a boulder, or in rare cases, the roof of a safari vehicle!

This picturesque but harsh coastline is referred to as the Skeleton Coast. It is a place where cool ocean waves crash directly against desert dunes. Other than its otherworldly landscape, the Skeleton Coast is characterized by (and named for) the many shipwrecks and whale bones that can be spotted along the coastline.

A leopard in Botswana’s Okavango Delta takes some time to rest. We followed this leopard as she trekked stealthily through the bush, back to a tree where she had left the remains of an earlier meal. She opted to take a quick rest, before continuing her feast.
