This Sunday at Emmanuel Parish House, you can jam to cool rock & roll favorites from the 60s & 70’s dished out by the Bank Street Band and even cooler free popsicles. On the lawn in front of Emmanuel Church’s Parish House, with the band on the porch.

Fun continues inside if the weather doesn’t cooperate. Dancing in poodle skirts and blue suede shoes encouraged. $10 or whatever you’d like to donate to the “At The Parish House” concert series.

Join Citizens for Fauquier County (CFFC), in Celebrating Fauquier on September 29, a tribute to Hope Porter, the visionary founder of CFFC! There will be a screening of a new short-film documentary showcasing her conservation efforts.

The event will also feature a live performance by Bess Putnam, a beloved local musician whose songs celebrate the history, beauty, and rural traditions of our county. We will end the afternoon with refreshments and cake as we commemorate Hope’s 100th birthday.

Tickets are $10 per person and are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Children under 12 are free, but please be sure to reserve a ticket for them so we can plan for an accurate number of guests.

Opening on September 14 at the Museum of Hounds and Hunting, North America in Middleburg: "Jean Bowman 60 Years Retrospective Exhibition" is a rare opportunity to see 40+ paintings from local private collections showcasing Jean’s sporting art never before on view for the public.

Renowned throughout the equestrian world as one of its foremost artists, Jean’s notable works include paintings of the famous Secretariat and many other racetrack and steeplechase winners, as well as hunting horses and riders. Notable pieces include a presentation fixture for Queen Elizabeth II of her racehorse Hopeful Venture and the emblem design for the Museum of Hounds and Hunting North America.

The events will include an opportunity for public comment, and we encourage you to make your voice heard. The priorities that we are presenting to the Department are:

1. Keep the rural character of Mickie Gordon Park.

2. Make the operating hours dawn to dusk.

3. Remove the lights at the park.
