Thanks to Hartford's new Mayor Arunan Arulampalam for taking the “official first serve" today to kick of the “2024 NIKE New England Winterfest Volleyball Tournament” at Connecticut Convention Center. He joined New England Region Volleyball Association (NERVA) Commissioner Dave Peixoto, and President Bob Murdock of the Connecticut Convention & Sports Bureau (CTMEETINGS) in that honor. This annual January tournament will be held over three consecutive weekends, bringing more than 28,000 visitors from across the Northeast and Canada – including 8,000 young athletes and thousands of family members, friends, tournament officials, college coaches, fans and spectators – generating an estimated economic impact of $9.1 Million to the Greater Hartford region!

We attended an exciting night learning about World Cycling Limited and their plans to build New England Sports Arena in Windsor, CT! CTMEETINGS (The CT Convention & Sports Bureau) welcomes "Vertical Hoops Fall Championships" to Hartford this weekend, Oct. 28 and 29. For the first time in its 18-year history, the Connecticut Convention Center in Downtown Hartford will welcome a basketball tournament to the building.

Youth male and female basketball players from across the Northeast will compete during the two-day event. Girls and boys, ages 8 through 18 will play on a dozen basketball courts with hundreds of games. More than 3,000 visitors are expected, including the young athletes and thousands of family members, friends, tournament officials, college scouts and coaches, fans, and spectators.

“We are looking forward to a successful weekend at this dynamic Connecticut Convention Center,” explains Jason Shea, President of Vertical Hoops. Vertical Hoops is a basketball company offering tournaments, camps, and showcases throughout New England. “Basketball players of Elite/Competitive abilities can register now in one of nearly 30 divisions. All players on the top Championship teams will receive real Championship rings just like college tournaments.
